4.0 out of 5 stars HAVE TO AGREE, July 6, 2001
By Carl Mack (Palm Springs, CA United States) - See all my reviews
If you are going to use another artist as a heavy influence, at least make sure it is a good one and that you do it well. Well Wallinger picks the Stones, The Beatles, Dylan (and they are all good artists) and he manages to make his sound unique and come up with a carload of brilliant tunes (therefore he is very good at what he does). Check out the sheer infectious Sgt Pepper sounding "Call Me Up". I dare you not to like it. Elsewhere this release has winner after winner. All cuts are pretty good, but in particular the beautiful "Vanity Fair", the classic rock sounding "Hercules", the elegant "She's The One" and the grand, bombastic "Curse of The Mummy's Tomb". All of World Partys c.d.'s are great, and this one will not disappoint you.

4.0 out of 5 stars beatlesy, December 10, 2000
By R. Bruynesteyn (Horn Netherlands) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
I've owned Bang by World Party and looked no further because, although it contains some beautiful songs , it's too much of a mixed bag for me. Some great songs, some missed opportunities and so on. However, when I found this one I was tempted to buy it, if only because it contained the original She's the one, (lately a hit by Robbie Williams, I believe).

To get to that song, one has to get through four others and it isjust unbelieveable how good they are. Things don't stop there however. Rolling of a log and Piece of mind spring to mind as other favorites. Great music, well executed with feeling and sincerity. Beatlesy it may be, but there are worse inspirations!

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent CD, September 17, 2003
By A Customer
This is an excellent world party cd. if you like the beatles and similiar groups you will love this cd. I don't have the import version, but i cannot say enough good things about this cd, if you are a world party fan, your collection is very incomplete without it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Quite possibly World Party's best album.
Goodbye Jumbo is often referred to as Wallinger's finest hour, but Egyptology is well worth your time and attention. Read more

4.0 out of 5 stars Quirky, but works
Of all the World Party albums this one has probably emerged as my favourite: A good mix of songs knit together mostly by very strong melodies and intelligent lyrics. Read more

3.0 out of 5 stars A Bit Disappointing
I have to admit that after hearing Bang, I found this CD to be a let down. While decent in some respects, there are no real solid tracks IMHO. Read more

2.0 out of 5 stars misstep
I got this cd used for 2.99 and I am glad I got it for that price. Since this is out of stock at most places, don't waste your money on the import, it is not worth it. Read more
