5.0 out of 5 stars A Pop Masterpiece, November 19, 2001
By Ronald E Baker (Mason, WV USA) - See all my reviews

From the swirling orchestral opening to the very last blast of guitar energy, this album takes the listener on an incredible pop music journey. The spoken and introductory pieces between the major songs can be programmed out, but make an interesting first listening experience. Stellar tracks: "You're Gonna Need Your Friends" (what happens when you ignore your friends when you find Mr. Right...incredible music, vocals and harmonies), "Too Beautiful", "Bad Boyfriend", "February 17". This album is incredible from start to finish. Buy now...enjoy for years!!!!

2.0 out of 5 stars Pointless album!, August 16, 2003
By Dario Margeli (San Jose, CA United States) - See all my reviews

This is the CD that confused this bands loyal following. Think about it: "Why do you buy a Pansy Division CD?". I think I buy them because they are fun, full of hooks, outragous yet they have political and important "gay" lyrics. Sense of humor, etc. Sing-a-long hooks.

Well, on "Absurd Pop Song Romance" you get NONE of that.
I think, the "bass" player of the band took over decision making on this cd, leading the band to try to act straight and supposedly musically mature. Resulting in a bunch of really boring pointless songs.
