Product Description

Amazon.com Product Description

The Panasonic Shockwave radio/cassette player is a small, durable portable with a digitally tuned FM/AM radio and cassette player. Made with the special Shockwave Metal design, the player has a durable aluminum body with floating construction, side rubber protector, and twist lock system. It's an ideal player for active outdoor lifestyles.

The RQ-SW99V uses the Brain Shaker Extreme Headphones featuring VMSS (Virtual Motion Sound System). The VMSS unit transforms bass signals into vibrations, enabling you to actually feel music signals that are not typically reproduced by headphones. The horizontal, back-of-the-neck headphones contain a three-key remote control--great for controlling the player while you're jogging or doing another active sport.

Panasonic has built many convenient features into this unit to make it easier and more enjoyable to operate, even while working out. For example, full-logic, auto-reverse playback plays the other side of your tape with just the touch of a button. Three-track TPS automatically locates selections on your tape, a digital synthesized tuner with five preset keys simplifies radio tuning (a normal/city FM reception selector ensures clear reception), and the large LCD display with battery checker shows tape or radio play and operation status. And you'll be able to take full advantage of the Brain Shaker headphones with the S-XBS Extra Bass System selection.

The RQ-SW99V comes with a carrying case, neck strap, and built-in hook for the strap to keep it out of your way. The one-battery operation system provides up to 28 hours of playback time with a single AA battery (depending upon playing conditions--battery not included).

The Panasonic RQ-SW99V Shockwave radio/cassette player comes with a one-year limited warranty.

5.0 out of 5 stars PANASONIC RQ-SW99V DIGITAL CASSETTE PLAYER, December 19, 2000
By Boxcar "motala" (Bristol, CT United States) - See all my reviews
This portable stereo cassette player has outstanding sound. A great buy at any price ! Especially incredible is the fact that it is all done with only ONE battery AND, the battery lasts almost 28 hours of tape playtime. Even longer on radio. The controls take a little time to learn but, a small price to pay.

If the "ShockWave" feature is not your cup of tea you can always use your own headset (as I do) and still get solid bass.

5.0 out of 5 stars the BEST you can get!!!, November 23, 2000
By A Customer
if you're looking for great sound AND a pounding base line, this is what you want--the brainshaker headphones actually produces a low toned vibration in perfect syncronization with the music to make the first subwoofered headset! to add to this, the casette reader and radio work flawlessly, never skipping or even start to even if violently shaked. and finally, just look at it! if you don't think this is the best, most futuristic, look at what i got, casette player there is....you got a problem. you won't be wasting your money on THIS unit. take my word for it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Remote Control is the Critical Feature, November 12, 2001
By David (Sausalito, CA United States) - See all my reviews
The critical feature of this product is the remote control, which is located on the headset itself. I listen to a lot of books-on-tape and need to access the rewind, on-off, and volume control frequently. And I usually listen while riding my bike, working out, or doing some mondane task. In-cord remotes are always flopping around and can't really be operated blind. But the remote on this product is a dream. The sound is fine. The earpiece feels uncomfortable at first, but you adjust to it and won't notice later. The single battery requirement is nice, too. But buy it for the remote.
