Product Description

Amazon.com Product Description

Minolta's Maxxum STsi Panorama QD is a versatile SLR camera. It operates in both automatic and manual modes so you can enjoy advanced point-and-shoot features but are still allowed full creative control of your shots. You can add lenses, flash units, and other accessories to improve the capabilities of this camera.

The Minolta STsi features two detachable lenses--a 35-80mm lens and a 75-300mm lens. It offers selectable automatic or manual focus, a built-in pop-up flash with four modes, a self-timer, and eight-segment honeycomb-pattern exposure metering. There are five exposure modes, aside from the traditional auto exposure mode: portrait, landscape, close-up, sports action mode, and night portrait.

In the box, you receive the Minolta Maxxum STsi body, two Minolta lenses and lens caps, an adjustable neck strap, a user's manual, and warranty information. The camera operates on two 3-volt CR2 lithium batteries, which are sold separately.

4.0 out of 5 stars Excelent and versitile camera, December 8, 2000
By A Customer
Having only used this camera for a short time I have found it to be excellent. The one thing keeping this package from getting a five star rating from me, is that the telephoto lense is quite slow, requiring well lit subjects. While this is not debilitating, depending on your uses of the camera it may come in to play. Also the auto flash is very underwelming, although the automatic adjustments of the flash (with apature ect)are executed extremely well for subjects in a close range. These are the only complaints I have with this camera. I have to say that I am very impressed with the panorama mode, and the image quality I have achieved in both automatic and manual modes. The automatic modes are easy enough to hand to anyone, and they could get a nice picture. I am extremely happy with the options I have with this camera, to double exposures, framing, sutter control, and timer, all work very well, and after some practice allow for some very intresting shots. The automatic film loading is also very easy to use and can save quite a few headaches. An excellent midrange camera.

4.0 out of 5 stars Versatile, but takes some getting used to, July 16, 2001
By "norbg" (Ashland, MA USA) - See all my reviews
I bought this camera for a trip to England, and shot 4 rolls while I was there. Worked very well indoors and out, the autofocus was crisp, and having a decent zoom lens thrown in was a real treat. When you're letting the camera do all the thinking, the resulting images are solid. The panoramic mode works surprisingly well, with negligible distortion at the edges.

Things get more complicated when you want to take control to produce custom shots. Changing flash settings, exposure or apeture settings require combinations of controls that are difficult to remember off the top of your head, so I spent a fair amount of time with my head buried in the instruction manual.

I also had some overexposure problems with the built-in flash in one situation, but it was a tough metering situation.a

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome Camera!, April 5, 2001
By "micheepoo" (Dayton, NJ United States) - See all my reviews
I've had this camera for a few months and it is awesome. I am an amateur photographer but this camera gives me the ability to learn and grow. I have been extremely happy with all the pictures taken with this camera. No more blurry zoom pictures! My point and shoot could never do that. The features on this camera are also outstanding. There's nothing about this camera that I don't like. I especially like the ability to take panoramic pictures with the flick of a switch. I haven't quite mastered all the features yet but I working on it. Awesome camera! I'm a very happy consumer.
