5.0 out of 5 stars Not their best album, but still good....., November 28, 2000
This cd has a much different feel than the Collection Vol.1....Vol.1 was a compilation of hits/rare songs. This is more a compilation of remixes and FOUR new songs. A couple rare songs, Hook It Up and Dont Hate On Me are on here, but shouldnt have been. Hook it Up is wack, I dont why Bone collabed wit Master P in the first place. Dont Hate On Me is abn alright track, but where was the classic song "Everyday Thing" from the Show soundtrack?? Of course, this cd does have some classic hits on it, like All Good & Ghetto Cowboy [from the Family Reunion album] and Thug Luv [from The Art Of War album].

But its the NEW songs which REALLY make this album. The first one is called "CLandIA", and its a Bizzy/Flesh duo. Ive alwayz wanted to hear a Bizzy/Flesh duo, and they dont dissappoint here. Clearly a unreleased song from Resurrection, the beat is very uptempo and Bizzy drops two fast but crystal clear verses, and Flesh drops a nice verse just like he did all over the Res album. "Weedman" is another unreleased cut, and its a Bizzy solo. DJ Uneek produces it, and of course its tight. Bizzy uses his style from "Look Into My Eyez" on this cut. "Frontline Warriors" is a Layzie/Bizzy duo. Not quite as good as CLandIA, but its aight. The beat has alot going on with it, and its sometimes difficult to get the lyrics. "Sleepwalkers" w/Eazy E. I had HUGE expectations for this song, and though the song is good, it dissappoints a little. It was originally gonna be on Bone's landmark album "E.1999 Eternal". Eazy's verse is cut short, and the explostion between his verse and Lay's throws the song off a lil bit. Also, after Wish's verse is done, I dont like how the song abruptly ends. Other than that, a nice track. The rest of the cuts are remixes. The best one, and my fav song on the WHOLE cd, is the Look Into My Eyez [atlantis remix]. This song is AMAZING. Much better than The Art Of War version. The lyrics are the same, but the beat is just beautiful, right up there with Shoot Em Up, Crossroads, Dayz Of Our Livez, and Its All Mo Thug. The "2 Glocks" remix is slighty better than the original, but its nothing incredible. The "Cant Give It Up" remix is HORRIBLE. I wasnt crazy about the original, but the remix makes it look like a masterpiece. The "Change The World" remix is good, but I woulda done one thing differently on it: Keep the original beat, cuz it goes with the song better. I do like the new chorus, and Krayzie's added verse is nice.

Overall, a must for Bone fans. Not a classic Bone album like Art Of War, E.1999 Eternal, or Family Scriptures, but still above average.

1.0 out of 5 stars Collection Of What?, April 12, 2004
By Cuzz (Where Real Music Lives) - See all my reviews
Usually greatest hits collections and best of compilations are served as budget releases of artists that have large catalogues. For the average listener it would be far too tedious to sift through all an artists albums for the best cuts. This is not the case with Bone Thugs' "Collection Volume Two". This release is the second in line of "Best Of" albums released by Bone and at the point of it's release they had only released one EP and two proper LPS, with the group not even in existence for a decade. So what you get with this second collection is a lot of rare tracks and remixes, and none of the more famous songs the group is noted for. Aside from this the album does feature some varied production from all over the rap world. You get the groups mid-west mainstay DJ U-Neek, west coast vet LT Hutton and southern fav's Jermaine Dupri & Beats By The Pound. Bone themselves sound interesting as usual in addition to diverse guests: 2Pac, Da Brat, J.D., Master P. Silkk The Shocker, Eazy-E and the Mo Thugs Family. Now I'll get into the strong and weak points...

Thug Luv ft/ 2Pac ~ When some of the biggest "thug life" promoters in hip hop connect you know something special is going to go down. It contains a very sinister element that anyone who is familiar with 2Pac's Makaveli period knows. Using 2Pac's authoritative adlibbing, echo effects, gun shots, and screams to it's advantage. The music is just as chilling supplied by U-Neek using quick piano rolls and hard driven bass and synthesizers laid among the effects. Pac slows ish down on this one developing an effective contrast between Bone's generally fast paced flows. Also Bizzy stands out with his opening verse that somewhat foreshadows the angrier tone he often now uses.

2 Glocks (U-Neek's Remix) ~ U-Neek brings a funked out remix of one the Bone Thugs' lesser known classics. Using an interpolation of "Ridin' High" with wah wah guitars, pounding keys and kold bass. The lyrics are standard thug fair but Krayzie Bone's soulful hook makes you almost forget the hard stances.

Look Into My Eyes (Atlantis Remix) ~ This has always been a favourite Bone song of mine and with a remixed beat by DJ U-Neek using the guitar riff from the Isley Brother's "Voyage To Atlantis. Krayzie Bone's anti-biter verse comes off the freshest, although Lazy's is also worth mention.

Change The World (U-Neek's Remix) ~ Now unlike 2 Glocks and Look Into My Eyes, U-Neek does not do the OG song justice. Now the lyrics are clever and sometimes intelligent, reflecting on the social evils such as aids, crime and police brutality but gone is most of the beautiful harmonizing. I can't get into the somewhat western sounding string laced production either. This could have been one of the surefire Bone classics this disc lacks
Ghetto Cowboy ~ The classic category is covered by this cut now. It's a Mo Thugs song with Krayzie and Lazy. With a harmonica looped production by some dude, Anthony Henderson. The rappers take us on an outlaw journey of the old west without sounding corny or lame. A fairly original concept.

For all it's good intentions this disc just simply isn't worth it. The rare tracks aren't that great, the remixes would have been better off replaced with the originals. They should have waited til after they released "Resurrection" & "Thug World Order" and maybe thrown in some solo joints from Krayzie, Flesh and Bizzy to make it more worthy. So for the casual listener I advise collection 1 and the fans will already have the album cuts so this is only for the most die hard collectors, 1.5 stars. Peace, Love & Soul...

P.S. I am not hating on Bone I love their music but this a useless release.
