Editorial Reviews

Amazon.com
The latest version of the naughty-but-nice vocal acts that nimbly straddle pop, R&B, and hip-hop, 3LW (Three Little Women) are part 'round the way girls and part li'l sisters. Along with hot beats, this trio has sass and attitude, which often count more than actual vocal ability. But these gals can sing, even if it's often in that somewhat whiny, plaintive tone so beloved in contemporary R&B. As might be expected from their finger-waggin' smash, "No More," much of 3LW's thematic fixation is on boys and their shortcomings. In fact, a good subtitle for this engaging and strong debut might be "more songs about boys and pagers," since it seems that the little women spend most of the CD tracking down loser men with various electronic devices. As is the case with most of these contemporary girl groups, though, 3LW are no victims. On the remix of "No More," which features Nas, the girls display a gritty, mature determination that might be worth exploring on their next effort. Amy Linden

5.0 out of 5 stars 3LW, January 1, 2001
I really enjoyed listening to this cd. First, I bought it for my cousin for Christmas, and we listened to it, and I ended up liking it. Then, I bought it for myself. I think 3LW did a really good job for their first album. My favorites are No More (Baby I'ma Do Right), Is You Feelin' Me, Playas Gon' Play, More Than Friends (That's Right), 'Til I Say So, Crush On You, and I Can't Take It (No More remix). I love Crush On You, it just makes you want to sing and it'll make you play it over and over again. Even the songs I didn't mention were good. Does anybody recognize the first part of #7? I could have sworn I've heard that in some older song. Anyway, just buy this. You won't be wasting your money.

4.0 out of 5 stars A Promising Debut!, December 31, 2000
By Nick (WA, USA) - See all my reviews
It's really weird/creepy that these girls are only, like, thirteen. When I was their age I didn't know half of the slang jam-packed into this album. Hey, I still don't! Anyways, this is really good r&b/pop music. Girl groups seem to be the trend lately and I guess that's a good thing because all the albums by those groups have been great. Here are the tracks: 1. NO MORE (BABY I'MA DO RIGHT): This is a really great "old-schoolish" song and their first single. Very infectious. 2. IS YOU FEELIN' ME: Another upbeat dance track, this one's really good as well. The group's vocals are very tight and the beat's great. 3. PLAYAS GON' PLAY: A very catchy, upbeat song! The beat is amazing and the lyrics are very funny. It's like an r&b dictionary! 4. GETTIN TOO HEAVY: This is the first ballad on the album and probably the best slow groove on the album. It has an awesome electric guitar on it which gives it a very classic feeling. 5. I'M GONNA MAKE YOU MISS ME: This is another ballad and more reminiscent of other r&b ballads of this year. Slow, but very good. 6. NOT THIS TIME: This is my favorite song on the album. It's upbeat and catchy, with a great beat. The melody is so awesome, the singing and attitude is dead on, and, gasp!, is that a bleeped out swear word?? 7. MORE THAN FRIENDS (THAT'S RIGHT): This is a cool upbeat song using a sample of the old song "Rockin' It." It's got a nice melody and is different from the other upbeat tracks on the album. 8. CURIOUS: A very age appropriate ballad, it's slow, but very heartfelt and good. 9.'TIL I SAY SO: This is a really cool upbeat dance song, and VERY catchy! It has a really funny/campy/stupid opening. 10. CRUSH ON YOU: This is an awesome, age appropriate, dance track. It's pretty nasty for these girls. They've got a lot of spunk. I feel sorry for their poor father. 11. OCEAN: This is a gospel-ish ballad, probably about God. It's okay. Some nice high notes on this one. 12. I CAN'T TAKE IT (NO MORE REMIX)(ft. NAS): This remix doesn't sound at all like the original. It's excellent on it's own as a different song altogether. Very good. The opening's very cool. ~ Lyrics included

5.0 out of 5 stars A VERY good debut!, January 2, 2001
By T. Foster "supermindpower" (Fort Lauderdale, FL) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
I was drawn to 3LW obvisouly by "No More (Baby I'ma Do Right)" But I was REALLY happily surprised that this CD is not a waste of money. There are so many good songs on this CD. I'm really into "Is You Feeling Me", "Gettin Too Heavy", "I'm Gonna Make You Miss Me", (This one's very very good)"Not This Time", "Til I Say So" (Great fast one!), "Crush On You", and "Ocean" (this one's beautiful!) I Like 8 out of 12 Songs, and that's really unusual for me. I usually only like about 4 or 5 songs on an album, even when it has over 16 tracks. So I gotta really praise 3LW for an amazing debut. It's really good!
