GE's 1106P DVD player is an affordable, solid-performance entry into the entertaining world of DVDs. Among this unit's features are Dolby Digital and DTS digital surround compatibility, S-video and audio-video outputs, and high-resolution video performance.

GE Spatializer virtual surround sound simulates a surround sound experience that turns your two-speaker stereo system into a six-speaker home theater.

Multiple search modes let you scan sequentially or randomly through each DVD chapter or audio CD track. Repeat options allow you to replay a specific scene, chapter, or audio track. This unit marks up to three disc locations of your choice for fast access, while its parental controls let you password protect your DVDs, preventing unsupervised viewing.

In the box, you'll receive the 1106P DVD player, a DVD/TV compatible remote control, two AA batteries, stereo audio-video cables, an S-video connector cable, a user's manual, and warranty information. GE backs this unit with a warranty of a year on parts, 90 days on labor.

I bought this DVD player thinking "Wow. Brand name player at a really good price." Then I got home and used it. Some DVD's played with no problem. But it was more likely that I would see 1 second freezes in the video (not the audio) and sometimes you would get horribly distorted images. Definitely would recommend not buying until GE can get their act together and test their products before selling them.

This Player may not be the best one around, but at ~130 USD it gives more than you pay for. It wraps up pretty much every standard feature you get on DVD players. The only glitch: video playback will freeze (seldom) the image for less than a second. I noticed the glitch after almost two hours of playback, and it's not a big deal. In fact, you'll feel like in you're at a movie theater and they switched reels, only without the warning spots... =)

So, good price, good product... I'd buy it if you're a movie fan and like to spend not-too-much on hobbies...

I bought my G.E. DVD player about a year ago and I really didn't use it very much most of my movies are still VHS, so I'm really discouraged from by any more G.E. products with what I have read and from what is happening with mine. At first it would take in the disc and every once in a while-while it was loading it would lock up. Then it started freezing a ways into the movie, and I had to power it down and it wouldn't run any more until it cooled off some, so I let it sit when every it did this very annoying though. Now it is taking in the disc says it is loading and never does you can hear the little motor working, eventually it stops and tells me there is no disc. I figured since it isn't working for me anyway I'd remove the cover and see what it was doing and I loaded a disc and watched it. You can see the motor is working, but it isn't turning the disc you can kind of jump start it by carefully turning the disc while it is in place and it will play the movie, but only for about 5 minutes and then it just says disc and no picture. I wouldn't recommend this product to anyone as many people that have had the same or similar problems with this you would think that G.E. would be concered about what was going on and how they could improve it. I gave it three stars, because it was working okay for a little bit, but guys I don't consider this a use a few times and throw away product. I just expected more from G.E. than I should of I guess. Hope my information helps someone. If anything show some people they aren't alone.
