Biography

While hip-hop prides itself on being the soundtrack to the streets, Field Mob have done their best to represent the country. Boondox (aka Smoke) and Kalage (aka Shawn Jay) hail from Albany, GA, a small town outside Atlanta that is best-known as the birthplace of soul legend Ray Charles. The pair chose the name Field Mob to represent the Field, a small area of Albany where they grew up. The two met… Read more in Amazon's Field Mob Store

5.0 out of 5 stars Can't stop The mob!!, October 20, 2002
Field Mob burst onto the scene in 2000 with an unforgettable song; Project Dreams. Sporting an unforgettable first line "Rent Thirty days late gotta be gone by Saturday", Boondox & Kalage commence to drop classic line after classic line in what was one of the great songs of that year. Spittin the poor man's vision with lines like `Have you ever bathed with soap the size of a cert" and "when the trash bags replacing yo car window" and the chorus to this anthem consisted of "If you ever been broke put ya hands up', they became one of the premier groups to look out for . Coupled with signature dirty south beats, this crew had unprecedented wit and a sense of humor that made them easily accessible. Along with that they could tell stories and spit punchlines that raised East Coast cats eyebrows. Field Mob has the sense of realness that have just recently been getting recognition in the form of Nappy Roots. They were supposed to be the Nappy Roots of 2000 but it didn't work out right.

Anyhow Field Mob can go toe to toe with any group in the game right now. Songs like Project Dreams, Can't Stop Us, Dead In Your Chevy, and Dimes showcase their immense potential to become giant mega rap stars. Other songs such as `My Main Roni' which is a smooth ode to a girl who constantly does a man wrong, and `Cheatin ON We' about when both partners cheat. Cheatin on We sports a rather unusual storyline with an extremely catchy chorus. Channel 613 is a tale about The Mob being transported through the Television and visiting different shows. This is a very creative concept that I had never heard before; they make references to Scooby Doo, Martin, Cops, The News and other shows

I'm pretty sure you have heard their new single `Sick Of Being Lonely' which is another certified winner for this group. Their sophomore album drops on Oct. 22nd and I suggest you get that along with this album if you slept on it earlier. Field Mob is one of the great underground talents to come from Georgia and it would be a shame if they get slept on while other groups such as Nappy Roots, DTP, and Jim Crow garner acclaim and attention. Get That Field Mob immediately!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Macon??? No. Albany is Representing, December 18, 2000
No mean to diss the dude about saying that Filed Mob are from Macon. But this duo is representing The Bany to the fullest. All I got to say about this CD is that these boys are on Fire. Big ups Shawn J, and Smoke.
