The NEC 1700M offers a complete multimedia experience with its stereo amplifier and speakers, beautifully bright picture, and native 1,280 x 1,024 resolution with 0.264-millimeter dot pitch. Plus, extrawide viewing technology and a compact design give you a variety of placement options.

The 1700M's high resolution with true color (more than 16 million shades) looks great, but its FullScan technology also supports most standard lower resolutions while still filling all of the display area. The analog interface supports a variety of video cards, minimizing video compatibility problems.

There's no need to worry about space constraints, as the 1700M has a small 8.2-inch footprint, is lightweight, and has XtraView technology that permits wide 160-degree horizontal and vertical viewing. It is also wall or arm mountable.

Special features included an Intelligent Power Management system that conserves electricity, Reduced Magnetic Field technology that exceeds strict international standards for electromagnetic emissions, and an ergonomic design for comfort and productivity. Onscreen controls let you customize settings, and the AccuColor Control System keeps colors accurate.

The 1700M comes with a power cord, audio cable, and user's manual. It measures 16.6 by 17.8 by 8.2 inches (although the display itself is only 3.5 inches thick) and weighs 16 pounds. It is backed by a three-year warranty. --Mike Brown

The NEC LCD1700M 17" Flat Panel Monitor is a high-quality analog TFT active-matrix LCD that elegantly displays images while avoiding being the heavy cumbersome object that most monitors are today. It keeps the level of quality that great 17" monitors do have, yet has the felxibility to be moved around at a moment's notice (only 16 pounds!). Setup & Installation is a quick and easy take-out-of-the-box-and-plug-it-in appliance. The monitor controls also offer the standard options that most monitors allow you to fiddle with, with some pluses. This monitor works with Macs and PC's. It's the best priced 17" flat panel on the market today, made by a quality vendor. Highly recommend.
