The Epson Perfection 1640SU is a high-performance flatbed scanner that is ideal for general image and document scanning. The 1640SU color scanner boasts resolutions of up to 1,600 x 3,200 dpi with a low-noise CCD (light sensor). It uses Epson's Micro Step Drive technology for optimum speed and consistency in a workgroup scanner. It has a maximum interpolated resolution of 12,800 dpi.

The 1640SU features a large scanning area with high-speed capabilities. Its automatic document feeder helps scan multipage documents efficiently. The start button can be customized for easy one-touch scanning. For optimum color images, the 1640SU offers 42-bit internal and external color depth. It can capture 440 billion colors and 16,384 shades of gray, making even the most subtle color changes vibrant. The 1640SU is perfect for artists, professionals, and graphic designers. For even more advanced photo scanning needs, you can purchase the optional film adapter.

The 1640SU comes with SCSI or plug-and-play USB connectivity for ultimate versatility. The 1640SU features a bundle of useful software. Adobe PhotoDeluxe allows you to enhance and edit your images with ease, while Xerox TextBridge Pro offers OCR (optical character recognition) editing. Epson TWAIN software will let you simplify those complex setup procedures and implement automatic scanning. Buy it! The scanning is fast, the sheet feeder is unbelievably accurate at feeding paper, the graphics quality is superb, the user interface is easy to use and navigate, and the options available are almost limitless. I have owned 6 scanners in the past and this is indeed the best scanner I have ever owned. Buy It!

I needed a new scanner to use to to scan many journal articles into PDF format for a personal library. This scanner works without any problems. It is fast and the automatic documnet feeder is great. For scanning photos, the reproduction is also great. I have a Mac running OS X and it is compatible without any problems. A very good scanner for the money. No reservations on recommending this product!

The guys from E-City just deliver the scanner with no CD Roms for installation and no USB cable. I paid US$ 300 for a scanner I cannot use.
