Believing in oneself is not always easy and it proves especially difficult for a bear of very little brain named Pooh and his friends when Christopher Robin mysteriously disappears from the Hundred Acre Woods one fall day. After charging Pooh Bear to remember that "you're braver than you believe, stronger than you seem and smarter than you think," Christopher Robin fails to appear in the woods the next morning. After mis-reading a honey-covered note from Christopher Robin, Pooh and his friends Rabbit, Tigger, Piglet, and Eeyore head out to find and rescue Christopher Robin from a forbidding place called "Skull." The journey is terrifying and difficult and each of the friends is besieged by insecurity about his apparent inadequacies. Rabbit begins to doubt his intelligence, Piglet his bravery, Tigger his strength, and Pooh his overall competence, but eventually the friends discover their inherent strengths and come to realize that perception plays a key role in fear and that the power of friendship can overcome even the biggest obstacles. (Ages 2 and older) --Tami Horiuchi

5.0 out of 5 stars The Best Pooh movie by far!, June 12, 2005
By TerryT (WA United States) - See all my reviews
This movie is excellent. Fans of the classic Pooh cartoons ("Blustery Day," "Winnie the Pooh and the Honey Tree," "A Day for Eeyore" and the like), and of "The New Adventures of Winnie the Pooh" will love it. Wonderful songs embellish this perfectly created Pooh story. Some complain that it is dark, scary, and such. Certain parts are, but definitely not overly so. It's necessary to the plot and the message of the film; not every second is 'terrifying' and even for young children, no scene should be too 'scary.' The sad emotional quality of this movie sets it apart a little bit too, but again, it is not too sad for kids, nor is it much more 'depressing' than many other Pooh tales. There is a happy ending with a fun song just as should be expected. From beginning to end 'Pooh's Grand Adventure' is truly grand and should not be missed; the only possible problem I can see is the disclusion of Gopher!

5.0 out of 5 stars Pooh At His Best, August 11, 2005
By Lee Neville "Lee" (London, ENGLAND) - See all my reviews
This and THE TIGGER MOVIE are the two best Winnie The Pooh movies.

Here we have POOH'S GRAND ADVENTURE: THE SEARCH FOR CHRISTOPHER ROBIN (UK title: Winnie The Pooh's Most Grand Adventure). The animation is definitely television standard, but the story and songs are of a very high quality indeed.

This straight to video sequel picks up right where the original
big screen film THE MANY ADVENTURES OF WINNIE THE POOH left off. Winnie The Pooh and Christopher Robin are hanging out together. They enjoy each other's company. They can do anything and nothing together as bestest friends. The next day Christopher Robin goes off to his first day at school. He leaves a note on Pooh's hunny pot so Pooh will know where he is. Unfortunately the hunny somehow falls on the note making the letters and words on the note hard to read- not that Pooh and the gang could read anyway. Due to this, Pooh and friends believe the word "school" says "skull" and that Christopher Robin has been kidnapped. Thus they begin a perilous journey across the Hundred Acre Wood.

The message of this movie is made very clear for young and old alike. And I don't mean because it says it on the video packaging. It really resonates with all of us- at least it did with me. I remember it very well- "You're braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think".

I hope you yourself, get to discover this little movie that is so much bigger than it seems.

4.0 out of 5 stars Pooh's Grand Adventure is a GREAT Pooh movie!, September 4, 2005
A Kid's Review
Pooh's Grand Adventure is SUPER GRAND! I love it.
WHAT HAPPENS: There's a boy named Christopher Robin who has a teddy bear named Pooh. They are hanging out together. Christopher wants to tell Pooh something, but they have lots of fun together and he forgets. When he remembers, he attaches a note to Pooh's honey pot. But Pooh gets it messy with honey and nobody can read it, but Owl can misread it! He thinks Christopher is going to an evil place called Skull. Join Pooh and friends on an adventure thru the 100 Acre Woods.
WHAT I THINK: Some people complain that it is scary for their child/children. If your kid (or you if you're a kid) are more than 5 years old it ought to be OK. The reason I knocked off one star is that I hate the map song/Never Trust Your Eyes. It makes it look like sences are useless and if you don't have a map, you're doomed. All the other songs are fantastic! Signed, StoryMaker. "Gotta trust the kid's review!"
