Biography

Power metal -- a forceful, hard-driving,and aggressive yet melodic style of heavy metal associated with headbangers like Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Queensrÿche, Helloween, and King Diamond -- got started in the '70s and reached its commercial peak in the '80s. But after the '80s -- after Nirvana and Pearl Jam radically reshaped rock music in general -- power metal (which is closely related to… Read more in Amazon's Iron Savior Store

5.0 out of 5 stars Thank God!, March 6, 2001
By A Customer
I am a fan of the best of the '80's metal genre, and have missed it greatly. Face it, today's "best " bands are 2-chord hacks, whose only artistry is their ability to growl gratuitous obscenities to pounding guitar riffs that an amateur could play after 2 minutes of training. Thank God for Iron Savior! Intelligent lyrics that tell a story, excellent multi-range vocals, and soaring guitars with crunching power, yet melody that is pleasing to the ear. I only wish that the record companies would push them on American radio--this band would knock all the Eminems and Limp Bizkits off the airwaves. I hope the band knows how many people dig their music and are waiting for a tour. Viva Iron Savior!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Simple...Iron Savior, April 7, 2001
By Pablosa (Buenos Aires, Capital Federal Argentina) - See all my reviews
Iron Savior does it again with their third full length studio album "Dark Assault". It has no surprises, usual IS stuff. Great songs very well executed by great musicians. We won`t find anything new or better than their previous releases. I still think "Unification" is a better album. It has a better solos and melodies: better songwriting; no mistery. I think it's because "Dark Assault" sounds like something that we've heard before (cliché) and it's really "wasted and used" (I mean in the band and the genre; you`ll go crazy trying to find out which songs sound the same, compare to the previous albums.) All the songs have the same structure. Piet Sielck is a great musician, but he is not a virtuous magician with the guitar, so it's understandable if he doesn`t surprise us on each release. We now what he is capable of, and that's what Iron Savior is all about... ...Iron Savior is Iron Savior, %100 heavy metal and killer songs and sound. I don`t know if there's a band that sounds more powerful and aggressive than Iron Savior. I was just comparing this album with the previous two. This album rocks, and it'll make your head spin (try not to swallow your hair).

5.0 out of 5 stars Metal doesn't get any better than this!, March 29, 2001
By Seth Jochems (Washington, USA) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This is one of the few metal cds I have on which every song is awsome (Gamma Ray - Somewhere out in Space is another solid cd). The production value on this cd is top-notch, the music is awsome, the vocals are some of the best I've heard, the lyrics are increadibly well-written. The list goes on about everything that is great in this album. There is not a single weak spot at all on this disc. This is so much better than the garbage played on the radio here in America! Buy this album now, you definently will not be disapointed!
