Some have commented in their reviews that the coffeepot drips, that the pot itself is difficult to remove and replace into its alcove, or that the coffeemaker spontaneously turns on. I value the consumer reviews posted here and usually heed them, but I loved the look of this coffeemaker so much and could find no other brands to match the styling and features of the KM1000 that I decided to risk it and order. So far, I have experienced none of these problems, and have been very happy with my purchase. The Krups KM1000 is a great little coffeemaker that not only makes a great-tasting, piping hot cup of coffee but looks good while doing it. Programming is easy and the price is right. My only fault with Krups is that not even a sample pack of cone filters was included with the coffeemaker as a courtesy, so be prepared with size 4 cone filters if you want to start brewing out of the box.

While I think this coffee is beautiful, I don't like the way the carafe slides into the maker. It's very difficult and I have to force it back in and I always spill coffee. Maybe I just got a defective coffee maker. It hits the filter pause and hold device. I have to say it does make EXCELLENT coffee and very hot....so I guess I'll keep it.

My search to replace my old Krups pro aroma coffee maker has finally come to a satisfactory end!

I tried the Zojirushi EC-BD15 Fresh Brew Thermal Carafe Coffee Maker but it was too tall to fit under my cabinets. I tried the Cuisinart DCC-1200 12-Cup Brew Central Coffeemaker, Black and Stainless Steel but did not like the deep heating plate for the coffee pot. It was too jarring when removing a full carafe and tended to spill coffee. Then I found this coffee maker and I am very happy. It is not ideal for over four or more since it only holds 10 cups.

It has an exterior water level reading which is great for the perfect coffee scoop per cup ratio. I have tested it and the level shown brews to the same level in the pot. The pot itself has a thick handle which is nice. The glass seems thinner then older models but all the coffee makers seem to follow this trend. It has a sleek design with stainless steel.

I love the automatic two hour shut off. I never have to worry about forgetting to turn it off. The automatic brewing takes a few steps to schedule but if you follow directions, works. The top lifts up to reveal the cone filter (it comes with a plastic one that I switched with a gold one) in front and the water tank in the back. Note that there are holes in the top to allow the steam to escape.

It is extremely easy to use for straight brewing and the enclosed space for the carafe helps keep the coffee warmer. It does not make the "perfect" cup of coffee since it does not brew at a high enough temperature but since that type (like Technivorm Moccamaster CDT Coffee Maker) costs too much, I'll stick to this one which makes a very good cup.
