It doesn't matter how harmless, fun, and dumb it all might sound on first listen; most of what's on
Get Over It is not going away anytime soon. The soundtrack jumps through many different genres to achieve its balance--whether it's the looped organ notes and monosyllabic chants of
Fatboy Slim's "Sho' Nuff," the dance-floor disco mania of
Basement Jaxx's "Bingo Bango," or the acoustic grunge and winning harmonies of American Hi-Fi's "Another Perfect Day." For novelty's sake,
Vitamin C's notable rendition of "Love Will Keep Us Together" has been substituted for the Captain & Tennille's 1970s original.
Elvis Costello's thorny 1977 ballad "Alison" still sounds shockingly recent. As an example of expert pacing, the addition of England's cult hero
Badly Drawn Boy with the cello-based "The Shining" serves as a gentle counterpoint and intro to
Caviar's propulsive "Goldmine."
