An improvement, but the downloads aren't so great, September 8, 2001
By A Customer
The 3rd edition of "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire" is slightly better than the 1st edition. There are more questions, Regis's comments are not as bombastic, and there are some minor graphics improvements. This 3rd edition boasts the ability to download additional questions from the Internet and add them to your game. However, there is one drawback to this. I thought once these additional questions were downloaded and installed, they would be merged with the original 600+ questions that came with the game. Nope. These "question packs", two of which are currently available as I write this, are played seperately. This means if you play a downloaded "question pack", you are asked the same 15 questions every time. That gets old quick.

They've got it right this time!, June 4, 2001
I just recently purchased the third edition of WWTBAM and I can say they got it right this time. The graphics and sounds are good and unlike the other two versions, the questions don't run out as fast. Another plus factor is that the player can download new question sets at bvinteractive.com. Thus, one can be ensured hours of wholesome fun. The lifelines are also better and the results of the "Ask the audience" lifeline are shown on a grid, like the TV show. Coupled with the award winning music and Regis' commentary, you really feel the heartpounding tension. But I can't be biased and must say that there are some minor setbacks. Sometimes, the dollar value awarded to the question is unfair and spans across both extremes. All in all though, the overall game is superb and worth your money since it only costs $19.90. Go ahead and get one for "the third time's a charm"!

Gets Old Fast, July 17, 2001
Millionaire 3rd Edition has some nice features that aren't there in the first edition (I never bought the 2nd) but that's not enough to save it. The 2-player fastest finger is cool, although the first time my friend and I played it, neither of us knew the answer to the first FF question and instead of getting a new question, we were stuck trying to answer the same question over and over again. Finally after 3 or 4 tries, Reege finally quit the game and made us start over. Admittedly, we may have been extraordinarily dumb, but it seems that it would be a little more "user friendly" to at least present a new FF question after several consecutive wrong answers. Another annoying aspect is that for most of the normal questions, there's apparently no way to change your answer or to confirm that it is indeed your "final answer." Only at a few of the "$ Levels" does Regis give the player the opportunity to change the answer. The game is very realistic with lots of Regis chatter and graphics/music that remind one of the TV show. However, the "action" drags when having to wait for Regis to finish his chit-chat before revealing the correct answer and moving on to the next question. On the TV show, all the chatter, music, and graphics add up to an exciting game but for a computer game, it slows the action down too much.
