Rayman Advance is perhaps the first must-play Game Boy Advance game available. It's a full conversion of the PlayStation classic brought to life in vivid detail with level-by-level optimizations; gorgeous graphics; large, detailed, well-animated characters; and that patented Rayman gameplay Ubi Soft has been delivering for years now.

Those unfamiliar with the character and story should expect yet another cute take on the 2-D side-scrolling adventure game, but Rayman easily stands alongside Mario in terms of brilliance. Rayman, a cute, big-nosed guy with pompadour bangs and an infectiously upbeat attitude, is the Guardian of the World. Oddly, he has hands and feet but no arms or legs to support them. That doesn't stop him from doing his thing, however. His powers include jumping, clinging to ledges, using his ears as a helicopter, and, most importantly, punching. A helpful fairy doles out these powers to you as you complete tasks and progress in the game. Rayman's task, as usual, is to defeat enemies and free creatures (called Toons) caught in great iron boxes. Also, Rayman collects "tings," which he can use to barter with magicians as he rids his bizarre little world of oppression from the likes of colorful bosses Moskito and big, bad Space Mama.

The most striking features of Rayman Advance are its graphics and gameplay. The design is extremely creative; there are tons of things to bounce on, ride, and grab, and plenty of other tricks to do. It's the sort of game that always has you doing something new, which is no mean feat considering it spans 60 levels. Rayman is a first-rate 2-D platform game for all ages. Rayman is the most graphically impressive game now available for the GBA. But what I love most about Rayman is it's a great game for all ages. Younger gamers will enjoy the crisp, bright graphics, entertaining animation of the characters and the inspired level designs (such as a land of huge musical instruments and another made up of huge pencils, pens, paintbrushes and other art supplies). Older games will enjoy all this as well as get into the deep gameplay which has you going back to previous levels after you've gained special abilities to rescue previously unattainable Electoons. It's also fun trying to find, and beat, all the magical mini-games.

This is a great game for a portable gaming system because the levels are broken up into short segments. This allows you to easily play for a few minutes or hours on end (as you most likely will) and always accomplish something. Saving your game progress is easy too, as you can save at the end of any level. There are even save points within the level so you can return to that point if you loose a life.

For impressive graphics, imaginative level design and challenging quests that can be enjoyed by gamers of any age, you can't go wrong with Rayman Advance! You'll be blown way!

I'm 36 and mostly stick to the puzzle and logic type games because I'm not a seasoned veteran of these side-scroller games---I'm too busy with work, family and other commitments to spend hours on end trying to reach that next level! I still want a fun, portable diversion now and then and bought a GBA because of the improved graphics and memory capability.

This is one of two launch titles I bought, and I found Rayman Advance to be fun, funny, and challenging without being frustrating. The environments are colorful and amusing, the music is cute but not annoying, and Rayman's movements and reactions are also very funny.

Very experienced gamers who have mastered much more difficult titles might find this one way too easy and boring, but it's about right for me. I just hate those games where you keep dying over and over until you get the millisecond timing for a jump or attack exactly right; in this game, exploration seems more important and there are many areas of the environment (and one-ups, "tings", and other things) you won't find at all if you don't climb every vine and jump onto every platform.

If you're more goal-oriented and prefer games that test your timing and coordination, you should probably bypass this one and pick up Castlevania instead. But if you're in it for fun, Rayman is tough to beat!

This game really surprised me! First of all, because it has the cuttest graphics I've ever seen in a long long time on a videogame, not to mention the background music! And second of all, because it's not a dumb game, like many nowadays. It's a game with some sort of difficulty, that not every children would manage to play. It's a game as tough as games were some years ago, back there when NES was at the top.
That is also why some people might bother to play this game: the stages are really long, and sometimes you have to play them for hours before you can continue, and you cannot save until you end them. But, for me, that's the beauty of these harder games: they are really worth your money, because you don't spent 30 dollars just to play 3 hours... You spent 30 dolars to play day after day, and still don't finish the game. And when you finish, you probably won't even remembered how it started, and you'll feel like playing it all over again! I think this game will be a huge success! :)
