Putting the "art" back in Cuisinart, this hand mixer's chrome finish is the perfect complement to a contemporary or retro-styled kitchen, and it's a hard worker as well. The 220-watt motor packs enough power to mix a double batch of chocolate chip cookie dough without slowing down, and the mixer is electronically programmed to automatically feed in extra power when the going gets tough.

The five-speed control and beater eject button are well located for easy fingertip control, and left-handed cooks will appreciate the rotating swivel cord that can be positioned for use with either hand. The stainless-steel beaters are big: extra long and wide to ensure better aeration and quicker mixing. Cleanup is also easy, although the cool chrome finish might scratch over time. This mixer is not made of chrome, it is plastic with a faux chrome finish. The beaters are not extra large; they have a strange finish and bend easily. The so-called spatula is hard unbendable plastic and therefore useless as a spatula. I bought a white plastic hand mixer at a local store that had good stainless beaters and twice as many speeds for half the price of this one. This is the only time I've ever been unhappy with an Amazon purchase.

I received one of these mixers for Christmas, and have only tried to use it a couple of times. Not only is it too heavy to be comfortable as a hand mixer, but the beaters fall out if they are not pressed firmly to the bottom of the bowl.

I have owned this mixer for two years and have had none of the problems cited by the other reviewers. The mixer is not too heavy and the beaters always stay in place if you put them into the mixer properly. My only complaint is that there is no "low" speed; at the lowest setting this mixer will give you stiffly beaten eggs in less than 10 seconds.
