5.0 out of 5 stars A jazz turntablist. About time a turntablist got respect., June 21, 2001
By noiseradio (Arlington, TX United States) - See all my reviews
DJ Logic's work on Medeski Martin and Wood's album "Combustication" was only a peek into the brilliance that's on this new album. "Anomaly" is just that. It defies description, tearing through jazz/funk romps, tigt hip hop, ambient chill, drum 'n' bass, Middle Eastern stomp tunes, and even Israeli violin, without ever sounding out of place. This is a must have in your cd collection. And it's about time a turntablist elevated spinning to the high art form that DJ Logic has--and got credit for it.

Genius.

5.0 out of 5 stars New Generation of Funk, May 23, 2001
By Eugene Schaefer (Westfield, NJ United States) - See all my reviews
This album is SOOOO dope.

About a 1/3 heavy funky grooves (French Quarter, Michele)

Another 1/3 ambient/chill contemplative music (Black Budah, Soul Kissing

Another 1/3 Kind of dark forboding sounds (Hip Hopera, Miles Away)

-If you liked the last album but thought it lacked actaul songs you will love the new release. Its less ecletic than the previous but the songs are tighter, and the diminished number of guests gives the album a more coherent sound.

Great Buy!!

3.0 out of 5 stars DJ Logic's colorful spin on jazz, September 6, 2003
I saw DJ Logic open for the Dave Matthews Band, and I immediately knew that this is an artist worth checking into. Along with the music, seeing people dancing in their seats was what sold me. 'The Anomaly' basically captures the improvisational spirit of jazz, the groovy rhythms of funk, all under the framework of instrumental hip-hop. Just think St Germain meets RJD2 meets Cut Chemist. Blended into the mix is everything from Miles Davis trumpet bursts, Sly Stone basslines, to DJ turntable scratching. DJ Logic achieves the ultimate celebratory experience...turntabilism you can dance to.
