5.0 out of 5 stars Vengaboys rule in the USA!, July 15, 2001
Last night, July 14, 2001, I saw this band put on one of the greatest shows of all time in Cincinnati. In the same area where the riots occurred, Vengaboys appeared at Club Electra and performed all the great songs from this album. They rocked! They partied! They danced! They ruled! Kim promoted this album! The audience went nuts! 3,000 fans went crazy!

For those Americans who still have not heard about the Vengaboys, they are a four member Dance/Pop act who live in Amsterdam, Holland, the same country that Alice Deejay is from. The Vengaboys are two girls (Denice and Kim) and two guys (Roy and Yorick). Denice is from Hungary, Kim is from Brazil, Roy is from Trinidad and Yorick is from Holland. Kim is the lead singer, but what makes the act truly superb is the incredibly vigorous synchronized dancing that the band puts on. It is fabulous! They all go flat out! There is no cuteness; there is no forced sexiness; there are only straightforward actionpacked dance moves. The girls dance as strongly as the guys. Forget "Brittany" ,forget "In Sync" forget "Christina" forget "Backstreet Boys". This act is the future.

The Platinum Album is their greatest album so far. Standout songs are "ShalalaLala", "Kiss when the Sun don't Shine", "Uncle John from Jamaica", all of which they performed last night. Two other good tunes on the album are "48 Hours" and "Take me to the City". All the songs are influenced by the unusual techno/trance production values that are now coming out of Holland, but all songs retain a strong pop influence. DJ Danski and Delmundo produce this album, and they must have been influenced by DJ Jurgen who is an expert in the field of trance music.

I want to see the Vengaboys on Late night TV. Jay Leno, wake up! Letterman, this band will increase your ratings! It has to happen! Make it soon!

I strongly recommend this album. A few of the songs could be considered weak, "Cheekah Bow Bow" for example; but the hits with the fun attitude, overpower any weaknesses.

2.0 out of 5 stars Pure pop this time, October 25, 2002
The original idea was dance music and the two Dj's Danski and Delmundo started with dance stuff before they even were the vengaboys however, the last Cd was good, the songs were more dance songs with cool beats but after the gteat success they had they realized it was better to make an Cd with more or less pop songs to sell even more, cause it was actually "Boom" that sold the most singles and probably the reason they became so popular. On this Cd many of the songs are plain pop instead. "Shalala Lala" and "Uncle John from Jamaica" are too example what fame can do to a group. "Kiss" is a little better, but the real dance fans would laugh at this teen-pop band they became against their will. "Cheekah Bow Bow" is a dance song with a computer voice, quite funny but the single flopped so did "Skinnydippin" which is more or less pop anyway. "24/7 is another pop song with some dance sound, not that good at all. Nah this album was alot worse then "The party album" i wonder how the next one will sound.

5.0 out of 5 stars Vengaboys Are Back In Town!, June 15, 2001
By "mike79" (North Kingstown, RI United States) - See all my reviews
That's right, after being released in Europe for over a year, the USA finally gets the revised new Platinum Album from the dance foursome VENGABOYS!! All I can say is "MAKE SOME NOISE FOR THE VENGABOYS!" They are currently on tour in the USA, so check ..., for TOUR DATES!

Now, onto the review! If you liked the first album, you will like the second as well. The only difference in this album is that it is more dance AND pop, where as the first was mostly dance and house! Either way, pick it up! Here's how it goes:

1. Shalala Lala- This track sounds like you are eating pizza and drinking boo's at an italian restaurant/bar and the crowd gets rowdy! It is really cool and will find yourself singing along once your hear it one time!!

2. 24/7 In My 911- Another pop/dance song, not better than Shalala Lala, but still good to sing too, great for those hot summer days with the top down drivin around!

3. Kiss (When The Sun Don't Shine)- First American Single off "The Platinum Album". If this gets played on the radio and at clubs it will skyrocket to #1, making Vengaboys known more than just the "We Like To Party" group. This is one of the best tracks on the cd, it is my 2nd favorite song on the album!

4. Uncle John From Jamaica- What a Fun song! It was released as a single in Europe, but will probably not make it in the USA! Very dancy and singable! Perfect listening to this at the beach, very similar to We're Going To Ibiza!!

5. Cheekah Bow Bow (That Computer Song)- Computer generated voice with hard dance beats and the "woop" from "Up and Down", make up this song! It can be annoying, but might do well in clubs in the USA, if released here.

6. 48 Hours- Instrumental only, a techno song, no vocals. Very similar to Alice Deejay!

7. Your Place Or Mine- I think this song needs a match under it's $%^. Don't get me wrong, the vocals are cool, and the concept is there, maybe if a remix was done of it, or they sped it up a bit it would sound even better than what it is!

8. Skinnydippin'- This is my 3rd favorite song on the album and hoping this gets released as a single! It sounds like Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom! and We Like To Party mixed! It has hard edge dance beats to it and will be a club and radio smash if promoted right and released! Cmon!, "Take your clothes off, Skinnydippin' All Night Long!"

9. Take Me To The City- WOW! This my favorite track and best song in my opinion off the new USA Platinum Album! It has got the hottest beats, awesome vocals from all 4 members and makes you want to jump, dance, sing and shout! This better get released as a single, because it was due to be on the "Charlie's Angels" soundtrack, but was too late to make the cut! "WAKE ME UP...TAKE ME TO THE CITY!!! WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAOOOOOO!! Incredible! And can only be found on this version of "The Platinum Album!"

10. Forever As One- Vengaboys first BALLAD EVER! It is the only slow song on this album. It is great to listen to with a loved one by the fire, alone in your car (windows up) or just to relax to, I love it, I think it is great and if released is good for radio, with remixes for the clubs (if possible).

11. Opus 3 In D#- Techno Track, no words, similar to Alice Deejay, similar to Track 6- 48 Hours. Nice ending song!

12,13,14,15 All for your COMPUTER ONLY! Contains the music videos for "Kiss When The Sun Don't Shine", "Forever As One" and "Cheekah Bow Bow (That Computer Song)" also contains a couple of screen savers for your computer!!

THIS CD MUST LIVE UP TO ITS TITLE AND GO PLATINUM, AND ONLY YOU CAN DO IT! BUY VENGABOYS THE PLATINUM ALBUM TODAY!!

If you don't like pop, DO NOT buy this CD. After their first CD went out, as they were working on their second CD, it got less dance-y and more pop-y. Read more
