Product Description

Amazon.com Review
Toga party, anyone? Now your Sims can do that and more with The Sims: House Party Expansion Pack, which makes it easier than ever for characters from The Sims to make friends and quickly rise to the top ranks of their professions.

They'll need all the extra money they make from promotions to pay for all the cool goodies included in this expansion. Party themes range from Wild West campfire cookouts to Hawaiian luaus and room-shaking raves, with plenty of objects provided to keep guests entertained. There's a costume trunk to guarantee everyone will be dressed for the occasion, and it's even possible to hire a caterer to keep the food and drink flowing. If you're really lucky, a famous star may pop in for a guest appearance. Every party is packed with surprises, and the inclusion of extra neighborhoods ensures there's always a bash to plan. This is one expansion that no fan of The Sims should be without. --T. Byrl Baker

Pros:

  • More than 100 new objects and characters
  • Guaranteed social interactions can really help a Sim's career
  • Great music and fun themes
  • Plenty of surprises
Cons:
  • Takes time away from real parties

Amazon.com Product Description
The Sims: House Party Expansion Pack is all about, well, parties. Everything in it is designed to make parties more fun for both you and your Sims! There will be lots of new things to do, including many different new group activities. There are more than 100 new objects and characters, five new music styles, five new dance styles to match the new music, and three new themes--cowboy, luau, and rave. It's an add-on pack, so you will still need The Sims to play.

Features:

Over 80 New Objects: More than just new furniture and accessories, objects like dance cages and a mechanical bull will give you everything you need to create the perfect party atmosphere for your Sims.

Group Activities: Whether it's roasting marshmallows around a campfire or playing charades in the family room, there's much more for your Sims to do together.

Rave, Cowboy, and Luau Design Sets: Three new architecture and décor sets will let you create everything from a kitschy dude ranch to an island hideaway to an underground dance club.

New Characters to Party With: Hire a caterer to keep the plates full at the debutante ball, or a dancer to pop out of the cake at the bachelorette party.

New Music and Dance Moves: Build a dance floor with a DJ booth and watch your Sims take to the floor with new moves based on five music styles (rap, techno, country, beach, and disco).

Costumes: What's a toga party without the bed sheets? The new costume trunk comes with new outfits for your Sims and their guests.

3.0 out of 5 stars An okay expansion for a great game, October 23, 2001
By T. Kevin "SF geek" (Arlington, VA USA) - See all my reviews
Frankly I was a little disappointed in this expansion; certainly it doesn't compare to "Livin' Large" in terms of fun potential, but it has some neat new stuff.

The party option in my case almost always seems to bring the cops AND the mime, and does little to improve relationships.

Some of the new goodies are fun, but some areas seem woefully neglected. We have a zillion variations of the 'tropical island wallpaper' theme but still only 2 sinks and one counter for the bathroom? You guys, consult with an architect or interior designer! More beds! More 'love' beds! More architectural styles!

Make the computers do more! Let the SIMs email, meet people online... buy stuff!

And most importantly, more pets. The guinea pig is too dangerous. Make birds, make some ambulatory pets, like cats and dogs that function sort of like real SIM characters!

The SIMs still has a TON of untapped potential!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Game!, September 6, 2001
A Kid's Review
SThis is the perfect expansion set for '"The Sims". Now your Sims can have themed houses and can have an elevator. They can also have punch bowls, bubble blowers, buffet tables and can have a total of 9 neighborhoods. Your Sims can throw a huge party that is a total success or a boring party. New NPCs (Non Player Characters) include the Mime and the Caterer. Your Sims can also call up friends just to talk. When you buy this game and the phone rings (in the game) be sure to answwer it because sometimes you can get money from answering it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Sims gone wild!!!, January 3, 2003
A Kid's Review
The sims is a great game but with x-packs(Like house party) it's better.House party has many new features for example the regular things like wall paper, floor tiles ,and new fences. But they have some uncommen things such as a recycled pay phone(garenteed to be disease and germ free)There is also light up dance floors and a hula girl lamp that really hulas! You can also call your niehbours(If you have niehbours) and have a house party(duh!) You can style your house to be a hawien louaw or even a texan roadio complete with a mechical bull! There is all so a visiting mime(much like the sad clown in livin' large)and special celeberty guest Drew Carry. Oh yeah I almost forgot, speaking of Livin' Large you should istall it before House party and House Party before Hot Date. Because alone they are good but together they are better. I like house party because it lets you go out ,get down ,and be crazy with the Sims!
Ihope my review was helpful and now that you are done reading it go on and buy house party for mac.
signed,
califonia girl!
