Product Description

Amazon.com Product Description

One of the most compact cameras in its category, the IQZoom 170SL weighs only 7.4 ounces but combines powerful features to make it versatile for any photo situation. The 38-170mm zoom lens can magnify the image up to 4.5 times, giving you a wide range of shooting options.

The passive autofocus system ensures sharp and clear photos, even when subjects are in typically difficult positions, like off center or behind a window. The autoexposure and autoflash keep subjects well exposed and properly lit so that perfect smile won't be lost because faces were backlit by the sun or the room was too dark.

The large LCD panel gives the user all the important information about the camera's current operating modes, so you can easily and quickly adjust controls to your needs. Film handling is completely automatic--from loading to advancing to rewinding.

You can switch from standard to panorama format midroll to get that extra-wide shot. The 10-second self-timer is always useful for self-portraits or group photos. You can also imprint the date or day and time onto your photographs to remember when that picture was taken. To conserve battery energy, the camera automatically shuts off after three minutes of no use.

5.0 out of 5 stars Compact Camera on Viagra, March 14, 2002
By Mark Biamonte (East Hartford, CT USA) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
I recently purchased the Pentax IQ Zoom 170 SL for a trip to London. I was looking for a 35 mm with the largest zoom and the smallest size. This camera meets all expectations. I took 9 rolls of film on my trip and every shot came out crystal clear. This includes pictures taken inside & outside, daytime and nightime, with no zoom and at full zoom. The full zoom even came out clear in dark lighting conditions.

The zoom is amazing, and is quite comical when it is at its full length.... just be careful to not turn to quickly... you might hit somebody in the head.

One quick comment. I purchased mine through amazon and got a good deal... however you should note that the price does not include a battery or a case.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great pictures only drawback is the viewfinder, January 22, 2002
By Debbie (Methuen, MA United States) - See all my reviews
I got this camera for Christmas and recently had my first roll of pictures of developed. The pictures came out very clear and the color was exceptional. Even the pictures taken with the 170 telephoto lens came out beautifully.

The overall feel of the camera is nice. It is very lightweight and can easily fit in a purse. I would have given this camera a rating of 5 stars if it wasn't for the positioning of the viewfinder. I find it very hard to look out of. Uncomfortable almost. I do wear glasses and that might be the problem but when I was shopping for cameras I did not find this problem with the Olympus but I went the Pentax due to the lens cover and the fact that the flash did not pop up.

Overall I would highly recommend this camera. Especially to those who do not wear glasses.

5.0 out of 5 stars A wonderful camera for taking pictures of kids!!!!, November 21, 2002
By TM (Lansing, KS United States) - See all my reviews
This camera is amazing!! The zoom range is more than adequate for amateur use and is perfect for taking pictures of my kids. I can get those close ups without getting so close up that they stop what they're doing to look at me like with other cameras. I've taken pictures of them across the room and I've also used it at a football game to zoom in on my nephew scoring a touchdown. I can see the expression on his face all the way from the stands! All of the pictures are beautiful, and the zoom helps eliminate photos that have all that unwanted "junk" around the subject. This helps the pictures look more professional and less amateur like. I use Kodak 800 Speed film because using the zoom with lower speed films can sometimes make the pictures darker than I like.

Some of my favorite photos of my kids are when they weren't expecting me to take their pictures--this camera is worth the money for the memories it will keep.
