The GE1101P features high-resolution video performance with multiple aspect ratios that can be switched between 4:3 and 16:9 (widescreen) at the touch of a button. And since it's both standard CD and MP3-CD compatible, you can use it to enjoy your favorite regular-format compact discs as well as MP3-encoded discs, CD-Rs, Video CDs, Super Video CDs, and DVD-Video movies.

The audio features on the GE1101P include Dolby Digital and DTS Bit Stream Output (through both coaxial and optical jacks) for full 5.1-channel surround sound capability. Upping the ante for fun, the GE1101P offers a microphone input for karaoke capability--just put on a karaoke CD, plug in your microphone (not included), and enjoy the music mixed with your singing right from your home speakers. You can even add reverberation to help cover for unsavory vocal quality!

GE has also built in a host of convenient features to take full advantage of DVD technology. A screen saver kicks in when a disc is paused for any length of time (preventing a still image from burning into your TV screen), while parental control keeps young eyes from viewing discs of your choice, and picture zoom lets you magnify scenes or stills of particular interest. A jog-shuttle dial control provides automatic track selection for CDs, and a full complement of other operational controls are included on the front panel.

The connectivity options on the GE1101P DVD player include standard composite-video and high-quality S-video outputs (for use with compatible TVs and/or surround receivers).

In my opinion, this is the *best* of the low-budget Chinese Made DVD Players, offering excellent picture and sound for DVD's. Also plays mp3's flawlessly (although no shuffle feature) and even has the bonus of full karaoke features! Finally it has coaxial AND optical output (rare on a low price DVD Player). You can't go wrong with this DVD Player. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

I've owned this player for a couple of months I haven't run into a DVD,vcd movie or CDR media that this player couldn't play. The MP3 playback works great too.

This player has two sets of stereo AV outputs one S-video output & coaxial,optical digital audio outputs.

Also there's a dimmer button on the remote for the FL display on the player itself. I've never tried the Karaoke function.

This product does do a lot of things. The reading capability makes it worth the buy, but...
When I was looking to buy a product that was able to read (or play) DVD's, CD's, MP3's, VCD's, CD-R's and (Most importantly to me at the time of purchase) CD-G's (Also known as Karaoke discs). It says, "Karaoke capability with microphone input." But they mean, sing along with the original artist.

Let me be very clear. This unit does NOT play CD-G's.
It will not display the lyric in text on the screen off of a Karaoke disc.

Other than that though, the unit is awesome. It does play all the others that it states. And if I wasn't looking for CD-G ability specifically, with MP3 ability I would not have returned the item.

So far I have not been able to find a machine that can do all that and CD-G's.
