About the Artist
The year was 1984. A young man by the name of E. Benard Russett was honorably discharged from the United States Marine Corps. After returned home to Houston, Texas; Russett auditioned to become a Rap Artist with one of the local record label's. After they wouldn't give him the chance to prove that he had mad skills, he established Free Style Records in June of 1994 and released his first single "Shame on you". The single was followed by an album in 1995 called "The Chance". Although Russett was well on his way to become a great secular rap artist, he knew deep down inside that he wasn't doing the work that god called him to do, so he decided to stop recording secular songs. In July 1998, Russett a born again christian prayed to god asking the lord to use him in the ministy. The lord inclined to Russett and instructed him to use his gift of rap music to reach the unsaved souls and to bare witness to those that are lost. In July 2001 Russett released his first gospel rap song 'I'm A Child of God" on the Free Style Record Label under the god given name S.O.G. (Servent Of God). The single is current making it's way across the nation. On the single Russett serves as songwriter, artist and producer.
