5.0 out of 5 stars GREAT CD desperately in need of a proper remastering, July 16, 2004
By M. Bergeron "Muziclvr" (Colchester, VT United States) - See all my reviews

It's a real shame that Motothead's best album has never made a good transition to CD. The masterful production by Bill Laswell that has so much punch on vinyl, sounds thin and weak on both the early domestic and this UK remaster version. Depite that poor sound, Orgasmatron still rates a five star rating...strong writing and performance all around.
Begin here and/or with Ace of Spades for a great band at their peak.

5.0 out of 5 stars Probably their last "TRULY" great album., September 23, 2005
By Ernesto Catalan Valdez "Kastas" (Guadalajara, Jalisco Mexico) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
After Fast Eddie exited the band in 1983, many a fan foresaw the band's demise. "Another Perfect Day" and a compilation album (NO REMORSE) were released to keep fans happy. The compilation album contained 4 new tracks by a "new" Motorhead line up. Replacing Fast Eddie came Phil and Wurzel (on guiars)and on drums, ex-SAXON skin basher Pete Gill. It took the band over to years two release a full length album with this new line up, but the wait was worthwhile, since ORGASMATRON is what I consider their last "truly great" album. I'm a huge fan of their "Iron Fist" album and I seriously doubted the band could top it ("Another Perfect Day", while being pretty decent, was far from perfect). If they didn't top it, at least the quality factor was not dimished. Granted, having 2 guitar players in a band that has been a trio forever would ultimately change the sound. It was nice to hear that the sound wasn't dramatically altered, yet there subtle changes that made ORGASMATRON sound fresh. "Deaf Forever" opens the album with a bang: a slow paced number that resonates with heaviness. "Nothing Up My Sleeve" is just classic, fast paced MOTORHEAD. The song slightly reminds me of "20, 000 feet", a classic SAXON song. "Claw","Mean Machine" and "Riding With The Driver" are classic fast MOTORHEAD, while the title track shows a different sound, more akin to BLACK SABBATH. It's a slow, marching number that reeks of heaviness in a way the band hadn't attempted before. It strays a bit from MOTORHEAD's blues-based mayhem and veers directly into more traditional euro-metal. Brazilian thrashers SEPULTURA did a version of this song so great, that many headbangers here in Mexico think it's theirs!!!
ORGASMATRON is a great great album. I also agree with another reviewer that the so called "re-mastering" is only a "pumped up volume" edition. The drums, which sound deep and huge, are rendered shallow sounding. The original recording does not stray far from this re-mastering, but it would have been nice to hear these songs with all the thunder and fury of a well made and thorough re mastering.
Having said that, this is still a worthy package and a vivid example to newer MOTORHEAD fans of the great things this band used to do!

4.0 out of 5 stars Motorhead the way i meet them, August 17, 2005
By J. H. Infante (Guadalajara, Ja, Mex) - See all my reviews
I was a kid back in 86 when i was introduced to Motorhead with this fascinating album, i was so intrigued about this guys because they seemed to be very loved by many metal fans i loved Metallica, I loved Megadeth and voivod and i ignored that without this band the whole concept of speed metal would be very different or even inexistent, so the first picture in my mind about Motorhead was as a quartet , later i found out that their classic line up is a trio and that they had a large resumee of awesome albums starting from early 70s and that Lemmy and his band mates were years ahead their age, now i love some of that great albums but "Orgasmatron" opened to me the gates of this brittish ensamble, this cd is suposed to be a remastered edition i seriously have my doubts, however the spirit is the same and i still enjoy this collection of songs after all this years

5.0 out of 5 stars Another winner from a very talented rock band.
