Editorial Reviews

All Music Guide, Bradley Torreano
There's something to be said for writing memorable love ballads, and he obviously has a very strong talent for that.

Times Argus, Jim Lowe - Arts Editor
Expertly crafted and performed...truly polished. Particularly unusual and beautiful is "Touch Me Softly", adapted from classical favorite, "Pachelbel's Canon".

5.0 out of 5 stars Bobby Gosh: 30 years later and he's still in love, April 19, 2002
By Kathi J Condron (Rahway, New Jersey) - See all my reviews
I've listened to Bobby Gosh since the early 70's when he brilliantly recorded "A Song for Erik". The song was actually the poem "If" by Rudyard Kipling and to this day remains the most beautiful piece of music that not only I, but my four siblings, have ever heard. I loved his music then and with his latest CD "Love Stories", I am still in love. Mr Gosh begins with "No One But You" when he asks 'who will dance with me through time and sing the song in perfect rhyme' and tells us that 'without love there is no worth.' In other words, thirty years later he is still writing music that has true meaning. "Touch me Softy/Pachelbel's Canon" is an absolutely beautiful duet with Tammy Fletcher. When they sing 'you have touched my very soul, you have made me whole ... you have turned my world around' we know that Mr Gosh writes about what he knows - life and love. "Wednesday Afternoon Lady" will probably hit too close to home for many women, young and old. This song might just make someone rethink their current useless situation. Included also is a new version of another one of his songs that was a huge 60's hit "A Little Bit More" recorded by Dr Hook and many other artists over the years. There are a total of 12 songs for all of us to learn from on "Love Stories" -and I do mean learn. When most of the world is busy being chic and politically correct this man can sit down at a piano and, with his words, make you do something you probably haven't done in a long time: remember the past and consider the future, through loving eyes and fifteen shades of the rainbow.

4.0 out of 5 stars from Solo Piano Publications, October 25, 2002
By Kathy Parsons (Florence, OR United States) - See all my reviews
(TOP 1000 REVIEWER)
Pianist/composer/songwriter Bobby Gosh has had a long and varied music career both as a performer and as a conductor. "Love Stories" is Gosh's fifth album, and contains twelve songs written and sung by Gosh. The album could have easily been titled "Making Love Stories," as there is definitely a central theme to most of the lyrics. Nothing trashy or tasteless by any means - just lots of references to the physical passions of love. Gosh's voice is gravelly, and reminds me of Joe Cocker and occasionally the late Harry Chapin (my all-time favorite songwriter). Josh Groban he ain't, but there is a certain charm to the roughness of his voice. Gosh's goal was to make an album that gives relief from all of the angry music that is being played today, and he certainly succeeded in that regard. This is definitely much more of a "pop" album than I usually review, but the piano is featured prominently, along with strings to add to the romanticism. "Touch Me Softly" has been released as a single, and is Gosh's arrangement of Pachelbel's "Canon In D" with lyrics designed to be sung at weddings. He sings it as a duet with Tammy Fletcher, a recent winner of the Apollo Theater Talent Contest in Harlem, NY. Personally, I prefer the Canon as an instrumental although it was originally composed as a choral piece. It will be interesting to see if this version becomes a popular hit or a wedding staple. The album also includes a new version of "A Little Bit More," which was a big hit for Dr. Hook and is considered a rock classic. My favorite song on this album is "Fifteen Shades of the Rainbow," a sweetly sentimental song of a guy trying to explain his feelings for his loved one. "Love Ballet" is also a very nice, easy ballad. "Love Stories" was fun to listen to, but is very different from most of the instrumental music I am so deeply involved in.
