Product Description

Amazon.com Product Description
Action's MP3-CD-compatible ACN-1100 is a perfectly compact and affordable CD player for home or travel. Playback options include generous 64-track programming, 400-second anti-skip protection during MP3 playback (a full minute for audio CDs), and a bass-boost circuit for enhancing your music's low frequencies. MP3 compatibility extends to discs with 128 directories and up to 630 files with bit rates ranging from 8 kbps to near-CD-quality 320 kbps. A broad (30 x 57 mm) dot-matrix display shows artist and track title information through ID3 tags, and an auxiliary output lets you listen to your music through your home system through a stereo "Y" interconnect (supplied).

A hold switch prevents unintended interruptions in playback and saves batteries by negating playback when the player is stopped. Included for your listening pleasure are stereo headphones and a battery-saving 4.5-volt AC-DC adapter. The player runs for six to eight hours on two AA batteries (also supplied). Should you wish to use the unit with rechargeable batteries (not included), you'll be pleased to know the player has built-in charging capabilities to accommodate them.

What's in the Box
CD player, AC power adapter, stereo headphones, stereo analog audio interconnect (.125-inch to left/right RCA), 2 AA batteries, and a user's manual

5.0 out of 5 stars Just Got Mine, March 23, 2002
By Mark Grammer (Vernal, UT United States) - See all my reviews
I can't give a long term review yet, but I have to say something good about this CD/MP3 player! Especially because the only other review doesn't seem to be about this product.

So far I love what I get for the price! The large LCD display is nice, although the backlighting becomes annoying. I haven't had any problems with recognition of CD's or skipping (but I'm not going to bang the thing around on purpose).

I just got mine and there are a few features not mentioned on the web:

*Built-In Battery Recharger
*ID3 tag support
*FF/RW search
*User-defined repeats
*400 second ESP

It also comes with some cheap headphones, a CD to Home Stereo cable, and 2 alkaline batteries (not rechargeables).

3.0 out of 5 stars Good price, but mediocre perfomance, April 3, 2002
By John A. Madison "jamlo65" (Louisville, Kentucky United States) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
Good points: Nice layout,4 line text display with id3 tag support,CD\CDRW compatible, multisession, backlight,Bass boost,
wide ranging bitrate support. Bad points: Flimsy construction, skipped frequently when walking,(Claims to have 400 second protection) Overall not a bad purchase considering the price, had it not been for the skipping, I would have rated much higher.I feel that a portable unit "on the go" should have better skip protection.

5.0 out of 5 stars HUGE BACKLIT DISPLAY, easy on batteries, April 23, 2002
By "deniseg113" (Waterbury, CT United States) - See all my reviews
Purchased this for vacation (22 hour drive each way), and have to say this is FANTASTIC, I am happy I didn't buy a differant one!
The documenttaion wasn't very good, and their marketing team needs to go back to school. If this was labeled with a brand name, the reviews would be outstanding and nobody would hesitate to get it, it is much better than the Sony cd player I have. THE PRODUCT IS GREAT!

The display is HUGE, 4 complete full length lines, plus battery status, mode and eq settings all at once!!!!! It supports ID3 tags, and if the title is too long, it will slowly scroll the title.

It has the added feature of a backlit display (press any button and the display lights for 3-5 seconds). The backlight feature was great in the car at night. And with only a few buttons and the joystick, it was extremely easy to use at night in the car!!!!

It lasted about 15 hours on 1 set of batteries!!! (I didn't have to change the CD (filled with mp3's) either!!!

BUILT IN BATTERY CHARGER for rechargables!!!!!

Built in EQ preset functions including the normal, rock, jazz, etc....settings. It has Bass boost and hold functions.

The best thing about this unit is the ease of use! Only 4 buttons and joystick.

other functions include Random, shuffle, repeat, A-B repeat, etc!

The headphones that come with it aren't the best, but those are freebies anyway, take out your favorite set and enjoy this GREAT BUY!

I have to agree, that it is not very rugged, yes it's made out of plastic, but it's no more flimsy than any other portable CD player I've owned. It is great for portable mp3 playback!

It boasts 400 seconds anti skip which is really (real world) 45 seconds (the 400 seconds is at the lowest MP3 bitrate supported, 8k in this case), In my opinion 45 seconds is still enough. In contrast the rio volt sp250 boasts 8 minutes anti skip, same thing though, at the lowest bitrate.. (if you're bouncing around for more than 45 seconds nonstop are you really concerned with music anyway?)

A good friend has a Rio Volt sp250, and we compaired the units. Yes the Rio is built much more ruggedly, but it's triple the price and the Rio's display is almost unusable. The Rio "booted" and read the cd faster (within 15-20 seconds) where as mind took about 30-35 seconds, but that is fine with me, the display and backlight are worth 10 seconds to me...
