Editorial Reviews

Amazon.com
The well known (Foo Fighters), barely known (Jack Johnson), and virtually unknown (Andrew WK) are all represented to fine effect on this predominantly modern-rock-leaning dozen-song soundtrack. As befitting the flick's snowboard theme, most of the cool cuts are by pop-punky sporty faves such as Lit (whose edgy and melodic "Lipstick and Bruises" is the single), Eve 6 (with a dynamic new song, "Anytime"), and the Foo Fighters, who turn in a reworking of a B-side in "Win or Lose." A couple of great songs (albeit odd choices for a teen-oriented soundtrack, especially when sharing space with the hip-hop Planet Asia and Will.I.Am) are the James Gang's 1977 hit, the sexy, bluesy rock romp "Funk No. 49," and the new but guitar-driven, classic-rock-oriented "Green Light Girl," a forceful offering from Doyle Bramhall II & Smokestack. British solo artist Andrew WK turns in an irresistible, ultra-energetic, retro, almost "glam" power-pop tune in "She Is Beautiful," while mellower moments from Jimmy Eat World and Jack Johnson aren't as compelling. Ultimately, if Out Cold is a slightly schizophrenic compilation of mostly previously released cuts, it's still a worthwhile collection for open-minded listeners. --Katherine Turman

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Album, June 4, 2003
By A Customer
A good album. But missing a few good songs from the movie.
Songs that are missing include:

1) "Island in the Sun" By Weezer. This is the song that the guy does not want to be played in the jukebox. I can't believe this song was not included in the album because its really THE song of the movie!

2) "Flake" By Jack Johnson. This is the song that is played when Jenny (AJ Cook) is stood up at the restaurant. Great Song!

3) "These Things" By Looper. This is the song that is played the morning after the party. A really good song!

So if your looking for any of the above songs, sorry to disappoint, none of them are in the soundtrack! Hope it helps!
