Homestead Professional offers a good balance--users can easily build powerful sites with relatively little investment of time or money. Now subscription-based, Homestead provides hosting, domain registration, simple Web design software, and ongoing support in exchange for monthly charges.

Homestead's page-design software is easy to install and use; the interface is an intuitive drag-and-drop framework that permits quick and painless architecture. The range of options ensures that each site looks unique, so users needn't fear the cookie-cutter effect that turns off customers. While a small number of users may be disappointed that their site's interior pages have homestead.com URLs, most visitors either won't notice or won't care.

The subscription model carries with it abuse potential, so it's a good idea to keep an eye out for changes to service agreements, rates, and other Homestead-controlled details. Of course, it's in the company's best interests to keep its customers happy, and so far it's done a very good job. --Rob Lightner

My daughter introduced me to Homestead after she had used the product. I am not that into computers much beyond email, but I thought I could have a Web site for my class. After playing with the product and all its features, I realized that a Web site could be as simple as clicking my mouse! I had a site within hours. The great thing is, anytime I have a new idea about design or there is new information to put on the site--I can do it myself! No need for an expensive Web designer. I can also make changes and save them without publishing to the Internet. This is helpful as it allows me to make changes and updates when its convenient for me. This is a great product!

I was able to build my own professional looking website in one afternoon! I added my personal web address (that is included with Homestead Professional) to all of my business cards and marketing materials. My clients can now get all of the information they need quickly and hassle free. They can even order my products directly from my website! I have increased my possible client base to the entire nation whereas before, it was just my hometown.

I just bought this software and was pleasantly surprised with how easy it was to use and the extensive features that came bundled with it. Much cheaper then something like FrontPage or Dreamweaver. It also has an e-commerce package bundled in called StoreSense and an integrated payment gateway and merchant processing from Paymentech.

Great solution overall and I would highly recommend it.
