This album is dedicated to the men and women of the US Coast Guard in tribute to the lives they have saved and to the service they have rendered their country.

Always Ready is a patriotic Americana compilation of two groups of recordings from the US Coast Guard Band. Selections 1-13 are marching band of field band music. Selections 14-19 are symphonic or concert band music. The broad spectrum allows us to appreciate the versatility and outstanding musicianship of this superb band.

This disc is great for anyone who is a fan of rousing marches and big wind ensemble pieces. Even though the Coast Guard is the smallest of the Armed Forces branches, their band is just as talented and musically diverse as any of the larger branches. The majority of the disc is devoted to familiar Sousa marches and Coast Guard service marches. The last six are wonderfully American wind ensemble selections. I am considering enlisting in the U.S. Coast Guard and, as a euphonium player, would love to be a part of a such a fine group of musicians.
