Amazon.com Review
Freekstyle, while generally a strong game, can't help but be the lesser cousin of EA Sports Big's smash hits SSX and SSX Tricky. The moves are more complicated, the learning curve is steeper, and the charm is relatively absent for this title compared to its more successful predecessors. And woe to those who miss a steep jump and expect to hit Restart, as in SSX. You'll be forced to take the jump again, with much less velocity than before you wiped out. Plus, you'll need to hit it over and over and over, a fact that makes initial play somewhat tedious.

Still, it's unfair to punish Electronic Arts for their past perfection. On its own, Freekstyle has plenty to keep motocross fans happy: courses both for tricking and racing, real-world riders, and complicated road maps filled with pleasing secret shortcuts. --Jennifer Hauseman

Pros:

  • Gamers can do multiple top-speed tricks in "bullet time"
  • Good game mechanics and environments
  • Real-life motocross champions
Cons:
  • Boring music and graphic design
  • Steep learning curve

Product Description
Freekstyle, for the PlayStation 2, is the go-for-broke motocross experience you've been waiting for. If you've got the guts, you can grab the glory in this extreme motocross racing game from EA. Picture flying through rugged terrain with massive jumps at morethan70 miles per hour, hitting a 40-foot jump at the ledge of a 200 foot cliff and pulling a superman seat grab and a 360 before you land. This massive EA Sports BIG motocross game dares even the best riders to harness the power of 250cc's, while pulling off sick stunts in insane, over-the-top worlds. Freekstyle is not about being the fastest; it's about being freaking fearless. Battle the world's aerial daredevils out of the turns, through the whoops, and in the air-and when it's over, storm back up to the top of the hill and do it all over again!

5.0 out of 5 stars Man This game is fun, June 29, 2002
By "gmc_santacruz" (Santa Cruz, CA USA) - See all my reviews
I have had so much fun with this game with the insane tricks. I bought this and MX Super Fly and I think they are both Great Games. I would have to say that for people who are not into MX race games but like the tricks you saw at the X or Gravity games get this game. Man even my Girl Friend like to play this game.( Controls are pretty simple 4 top buttons are tricks One boost and one to accelerate) and the graphics are really clean. My favorite detail is when you crash you kick start the bike and you feel the bike go squirlly on you( love the Force Feedback controllers). This is Fun if you like the big air and Mad Tricks and do not care that it is not a sim. if you are in to a more sim racing go with MX SuperFly. Thats My two Cents.

5.0 out of 5 stars BEST EVER!!!, July 1, 2003
I borrowed my friend's GB Copy, And LOVED it. So about 6 Months later, I bought the PS2 copy. I got it and tryed it out, but it wouln't load! So I took a paper towel and wiped it down, popped it, and it worked like a charm! Loved it ever since.

5.0 out of 5 stars EXTREMELY FREAKY!!!!!, August 9, 2004
Durability:5.0 out of 5 stars Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars Educational:2.0 out of 5 stars
REVIEWER: E-Dog

This is a great game! Here are the pros: great graphics, cool tricks, real cyclers, it has codes, and you can't get bored of it. Here are the cons: it is really hard to become a freakstyle legend. Other than that the game ROCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

But little kids can get kinda frustrated because they can't come in first. A great racer is Brian Deegan. Use the code "LOKSMITH", go to Brian Deegan, and then choose his last bike. Go to "Burn It Up" race track. You will probably win.
