5.0 out of 5 stars Duke Nukem is, indeed, back..and with a vengeance...., April 12, 2003
By blackaciddevil (in the USA somewhere.....) - See all my reviews
Admittedly, I first bought a Gameboy Advance just to play FPS games on it(namely Doom) and, over the course of owning the system, I've collected quite a few FPS for it. Some absolutely awesome and some not worth mentioning. Yet, out of them all- I have to stand in agreement with the other reviewers here that say Duke Nukem Advance has to be the best FPS game on the GBA..period. Not that Doom, Wolfenstein 3-D or Ecks vs Sever weren't that good- they were for the time that they were released for the system...and I tip my hat to their developers on the tremendous jobs they did with them. But...Duke Nukem Advance pushed the envelope on innovation in the game. You're able to do things in DNA that you just can't do anywhere else. And, for that..it holds that crown as the best FPS on the handheld..at least, for now...anyways. The graphics are crisp and the control is smooth just like a FPS should be. If there were any gripes, it'd be trying to see your enemies in the distance. Yet, that is to be expected on a handheld. I must say I'm impressed with the job that was done on the game. It's definitely one worth adding to your collection.
As Duke says.."Hail to the King, Baby!"....

5.0 out of 5 stars the best first person shooter to date, September 4, 2002
By rama (CA United States) - See all my reviews
I had high hopes when I heard this game was being ported to the GBA, and it hasn't let me down! Duke Nukem is way better than Ecks vs Sever or Doom for the gameboy when it comes to playability. The graphics aren't great, but gameplay and smoothness (frame rate) are both awesome, the story line is the same "kick a** and chew bubble gum, and I'm all out of gum" type style.
The Artificial Intelligence could be better, its easy to "trick" the enemies by hiding around walls, taking quick shots at them, then ducking back around without ever being hurt, but you gotta remember its just a Gameboy.
This game has more than met my high expectations for this title.

5.0 out of 5 stars WOW, January 15, 2005
Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
Incredible graphics, gameplay and sound. Its great. you explore massive levels littered with many enemys, and shoot anything that moves. there are timed excapes and its relatively close to the pc version(game play wise). everything is interactable, if you shoot the toilet it breaks and spurts water, if you shoot the candy machine it explodes. All of his catch phrases are here, such as dam im good, hail to the king, bitchin, and kick ass. to be honest they curse alot in this game. when ever you dont have the key to open a locked door he says somthing like dammit or son of a bitch. its a great fps, one of the best.
