Editorial Reviews

Product Description
The Mummydogs' (feat. Guy Kyser of the now broken up White Rope) sound meanders through Barry White, Ennio Morricone, delta blues and grungy melodic pop laced with maracas and feedback. 2002.

3.0 out of 5 stars Mummydogs - self-titled (Frontier), January 20, 2005
Band was apparently named after a widely-marketed frankfurter. This is the group's first effort.I recieved this disc as a gift, more or less and I thought that it deserved a review.Their music is like grungy pop, with what I believe has some wide appeal potential.Tracks that I thought showed off the band's talent were "Fly Away","Red Bandana",the inspiring "Paul Of The Jungle",the Skip James cover "Look At The People" and their Johnny Thunders cover "Ask Me No Questions".Line-up:Guy Kyser-guitar&vocals;his spouse-Johanna Kyser-keyboards&vocals,Carry Rodda-bass and Paul Takushi-drums.An okay find.

5.0 out of 5 stars A stunning achievement, December 1, 2002
By Guy Kyser (Woodland, CA USA) - See all my reviews
Listening to this album was like hearing the whole history of music and civilization, from possum-sized primates banging on their nuts to post-modern infrastructure collapse. Zarathustral in its scope. I pity any bands that try to make another album in the wake of this behemoth. Vocals are a little froggy here and there, but what the hey.

4.0 out of 5 stars Finally!, July 14, 2003
So happy to see Guy Kyser return to music after taking about 10 years off...
Mummydogs are different than Thin White Rope, more low key and bluesy. Love the way Guy and Jo's voices blend, that somewhat makes up for having no Roger Kunkel dueling guitars! Speaking of cover versions, the Mummydogs seem to have struck gold by having their cover version of Johnny Thunders' "Ask Me No Questions" used in a Las Vegas tourism commercial. I keep hearing it during Dodger games-- irony?

Man I miss Thin White Rope. This Mummydogs CD has it's good parts but it gets nowhere near Kysers earlier work. Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Red Hot...and makes a great gift!
I can't get enough of Guy Kyser's raspy voice. I enjoy it so much that I currently have 30 copies of this album in my attic.
