5.0 out of 5 stars STEPTACULAR!!, May 16, 2002
This is a condensed version of the "Gold" album we have in the U.K, but it contains many of the highlights from the Steps catalogue. If you like uncomplicated, fun pop this album is a must! Like ABBA before them, Steps have the ability to produce catchy tracks guarenteed to get any party going.
This album contains the two U.K No1 singles the classic, "Tragedy" (how many of you can do the dance?!) and the 70's disco sound of "Stomp"; every other track made the U.K top 5. Steps will always be remembered for their dance routines and up-tempo songs, but to redress the balance you find the original U.K version of "One For Sorrow", "Heartbeat" and their last ever U.K single, "Words Are Not Enough" (all of which are slowies).
Sadly, this version ommits some of the greatest ever Steps tracks, namely Lisa's solos "Never Get Over You", "Bittersweet" and "Just Like The First Time" - maybe if they had been included people would see why she was the best Step girl!
If you like this album, get the U.K albums - there are some great pop songs on them! The key to liking Steps is not to take them too seriously!

5.0 out of 5 stars "Best of" is the best ever....., March 25, 2002
By Andrew (Kentucky, USA) - See all my reviews
This has to be my absolute favorite album of all time (disreguarding the UK import "Gold:Greatest Hits"). This album truly is the best of Steps. It has 4 new tracks to the USA ("One For Sorrow" ["One For Sorrow (US MIX)" has only been released in america], "Better Best Forgotten", "Chain Reaction" and "Words Are Not Enough"). Although some of these songs weren't released as singles in the usa, they are some of the best. All the way from their first single (5, 6, 7, 8) to some of the best covers ever (Tragedy, Last Thing On My Mind, Chain Reaction) to some of their biggest hits (One For Sorrow, Stomp and It's The Way You Make Me Feel) and all the way to the last single (Words Are Not Enough). It is a true collection of best hits, and this is just a preview. If you want the full story, i suggest you get "Gold:Greatest Hits" from the UK, with another 7 tracks (and another 3 unlreased US tracks; Baby Don't Dance, When I Said Goodbye and Only In My Dreams) but this is a great one too. Or you could buy both like me!

5.0 out of 5 stars Everybody loves Steps!, May 7, 2005
Steps is one of the hottest groups in the UK, where their records sell like hotcakes! This is their amazing hits album, which has a cover of the Bee Gees "Tragedy." Well, it'd be a "tragedy" if you skipped this CD, because Steps are among the best. Buy now!
