Editorial Reviews

Amazon.com
The track listing reads like a who's who of the nu-metal genre, with brand-new songs from chart toppers including Godsmack, Creed, and Nickelback. Especially strong are System of a Down's orchestrated-meets-intense "Streamline," Sevendust's fervent and unique "Corrected," and Nickelback's raucous, edgy, raw rocker "Yanking Out My Heart," while Creed's typically musically morose five-minute ballad "To Whom It May Concern" will certainly delight fans. New band 12 Stones show promise with their straightahead, guitar-heavy "My Life," while Flaw's layered, soaring, and mesmerizing "Only the Strong" sounds hit-bound, as does Injected's vibrant "Burn It Black." As with Godsmack, Mushroomhead's contribution was penned specially for the movie, the suitably "soundtracky" audio track "turned down" to suit the onscreen action. If the flick--the third of the Mummy series--fades from memory quickly, its musical accompaniment is well equipped to stand the test of time. --Katherine Turman

5.0 out of 5 stars A Must Have Soundtrack!, April 14, 2002
By A Customer
This soundtrack is probally one of the best out there. The mixture of bands is amazing. The only thing that it is really missing is either Korn or Adema to wrap it all up. There really is not a track on here that should not be there. Here's a quick breakdown of the songs.

1. Godsmack - I Stand Alone - Really needs no explanation, huge radio hit and it's Godsmack (Need I say more?) Probally the third best on the CD.5/5

2. P.O.D. - Set It Off (Tweaker Remix) - Not as good as the original song, but still a very good song by itself. 4/5

3. Drowning Pool - Break You - Very well written song, probally better then Drowning Pool's other singles. The second best song on the CD. 5/5

4. System Of A Down - Streamline - I was completly blown away by how well written this song was. Not the typical System Of A Down, but still very good. 5/5

5. Creed - to Whom It May Concern - In my opinion the weakest song on the whole soundtrack. It lacks the intensity of the other songs. Although I'm not a big Creed fan it still was not a bad song. 4/5

6. Nickelback - Yanking Out My Heart - Another great song by Nickelback, it shows the heavier side of the band. Can get a little repetitive though. 4/5

7. Hoobastank - Losing My Grip - A big surprise for me, Hoobstank has written a very good song, excellent lyrics and very good guitar backrounds bring this song together. 5/5

8. Flaw - Only The Strong - A very powerful song the guitar and lyric combination is incredible, mesmerizing and very catchy. Although it isn't as good as "Payback" it is an excellent song by itself. I can't even count the number of times that I've listened to this song. 5/5

9. Rob Zombie feat. Ozzy Osbourne - Ironhead - I was most unsure about this track when I first got the CD. But after listening to it once I fell in love with it. Tied for second best on the album. 5/5

10. 12 Stones - My Life - An extremely talented new band, I can't wait for their first CD to come out. 5/5

11. Mushroomhead - Along The Way - The Cleveland band that made it big this past year. I've followed them for a little while and always loved their music. This song is no different, the lyrics blend with the guitar perfectly. And for those of you who don't like the singing in this song, well, all I can say is, you are not a true Metal fan. 5/5

12. Lifer - Breathless - A band who I had never heard of, but was pretty impressed with. They came out pretty well on this album. 4/5

13. Sevendust - Corrected - Another great Sevendust song. Intense and well written, this is another highlight of the album. In my opinion this is the best song on the CD. 5/5

14. Injected - Burn It Black - A great song by Injected. Intense and catchy at the same time. 4/5

15. Breaking Point - 27 - Kinda out of place with its "punky" guitar, but still a good song. 4/5

16. Coal Chamber - Glow - A haunting song with beautifuly done lyrics and guitars. Another gem of a song on this CD. 5/5

All in all there are no weak points in the CD and I would have to say it is the best soundtrack released this year.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Soundtrack, June 8, 2002
This is a really great soundtrack [despite the weak movie], and the best i've heard so far this year. Unlike many other soundtracks, this cd is solid throughout itself. It's not something where you hear Metallica and then you hear Britney Spears, and then Phil Collins. The whole album is hard, heavy, quality, and catchy rock music by some of the biggest names.

1. Godsmack - I stand Alone
Great song, catchy, best Godsmack song, gets old after a while.
2. P.O.D. - Set it off (Remix)
An awesome remix of an awesome song by my favorite band.
3. Drowning Pool - Break You
Same boring garbage from that one hit wonder Drowning Pool. The lead singer just keeps repeating I WILL BREAK YOU and whining about his pain inside. WORST.
4. SOAD - Streamline
Best song on the album. Beautifully done with an awesome climax, shoulda been on Toxicity.
5. Creed - To Whom it May Concern
Same Creed stuff, not that bad though.
6. Nickelback - Yanking Out My Heart
Heavy Nickelback song with great lyrics. 2nd best on the album.
7. Hoobastank - Losing My Grip
Great riffs.
8. Flaw - Only The Strong
This is an awesome song, its really heavy, heartfelt, and catchy. 3rd Best on the album.
9. Rob Zombie - Iron Head
Great song by Rob, much better than his new singles.
10. 12 Stones - My Life
Not a bad song, kinda whiny.
11. Mushroomhead - Along the Way
Although the drumming is cool, the lead singer sounds like hes dying.
12. Lifer - Breathless
Good song by Lifer, the refrain is great, especially the acoustic guitar.
13. Sevendust - Corrected
I bought the album for this song because 7dust is one of my favorite bands. This song is great, alot like Animosity.
14. Injected - Burn It Black
Great song.
15. Breaking Point - 27
I really like this song because its more upbeat than the rest of the CD.
16. Coal Chamber - Glow
Great new Coal Chamber song.

All in all, this CD is really worth buying.

5.0 out of 5 stars This is a REALLY impressive soundtrack collection!!!, March 27, 2002
By R. Stott (Aurora, CO USA) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
Wow! I picked this up yesterday after drooling all over the back-cover song list and seeing that I was at least somewhat familiar with 13 of the 16 acts that contributed to this CD. Godsmack's "I Stand Alone" by itself makes this worth having, but the excellent songs by Lifer, Flaw, P.O.D., Rob Zombie (with Ozzy!!, Sevendust and Mushroomhead (check out their "XX" CD!!! ...they are aMaZiNg!!) make this a standout collection! Unlike a lot of soundtracks where the songs sound a collection of bad B-Sides, this is certainly an exception to the rule. ...
