4.0 out of 5 stars NATAS is on Point Once Again but With A New Direction, February 8, 2003
By Ian Scottish (New York) - See all my reviews
Just like in any other NATAS CD, "Godlike" redefines the music made by Esham, Mastamind, and TNT. Now, if you're a NATAS fan only for tha wicket acid rap type of stuff, this CD probably isn't for you since this is more of a hiphop/gangsta rap album. However, even though this may sound more like a mainstream album than what you would typically hear from NATAS, it is still packed with energy, especially from the vocals of TNT and Mastamind. The tracks that stand out most I'd say are "N-A-T-A-S", "Godlike", and "See Thru". This album even has a very good and cold D12 diss on the track "Shady MF". This album also has a lotta quotables, my favorite of which would be when Esham says "Taking it slow/owning tha flow/ain't been a rapper like me since 2Pac signed to Death Row", that was deffinatley a highlight line in my eyes. I would say that if you're a fan of NATAS, get this because it is deffinatley essential for the collection. This may also very well be NATAS very last album, and if it is, I think they certaintly went out and proved to everyone that they are the true pioneers of acid rap. Only thing dissapointing was that "Godlike" lacked the advertisment and distribution it truly deserved because it had the potential to have gone gold, but hey, what can you do? It's certaintly not the first time Esham and NATAS have been screwed out of the publicity that they deserve. Either way, if this does prove to be their last album they will go down as one of the most influencial groups in the history of underground hiphop.

4.0 out of 5 stars Dont be a HATER!, June 15, 2002
By REKKER421 (Los Scandolous) - See all my reviews
Another sick album full of that real ish!WHY would you even want to listen to some other Detroit rappers(ahem Dirty Dildos and feminem).Although some mainstream groupies may not have their heads straight(like ^ above)and may not be ready for the concepts and beats coming from NATAS.Once again another tight [...] album.......Im not the type of guy that sorts out albums by Tracks......Either its good or it [...stinks].This is GOOD.If you wasted your money on The newest fEminem then consider yourself a bandwagon biatch and go get some music that will set your levels straight-not something to bump looking for 14 year old girls(teeny bop rap ish).

4.0 out of 5 stars NATAS shows us once again why they are ahead of the game., August 22, 2002
By "mentalkayse" (Cincinnati, Ohio) - See all my reviews
I downloaded a couple of songs from Godlike and was disappointed. A few weeks later I picked up the CD on a whim and decided to give it a real chance. I was pleasantly surprised. Although I wouldn't rank this CD higher than WWW.Com or DOUBELIEVENGOD, It is, in my opinion, one of the better Natas albums. The low production value is indeed immenent throughout the album but with one listen you will notice the skills Esham and the rest of Natas have aquired. I love the beats, the lyrics, but some of Eshams verses seemed... forced, I think. Since the release of WWW.com Natas has been trying for a more mainstream sound and although they sound like nothing on the radio today, they do have the lyrical content and skills to make it mainstream. Never been one to listen to mainstream rap, I was surprised at how easily I took to Godlike. The style change is a great leap but it's not the big disappointment many people claim. Give the album a chance, you will be glad you did.
