The DW006K-2 24-volt 1/2-inch drill/hammerdrill kit offers users the flexibility of two powerful tools in one. Powered by DeWalt's 24-volt system of fan-cooled XR+ battery packs, the DW006 provides 550 in./lbs. of torque for a consistent supply of raw power, far exceeding anything available in the cordless market today. The fan-cooled XR+ batteries with the fan-cooled charger keeps the battery pack cool, providing up to three times more charges. The DW006 is designed especially for heavy-duty plumbing and electrical applications. The DW006 hammer mode will provide you with 34,000 bpm for faster penetration and increased productivity. The all-metal chuck with carbide-tipped jaws prevents bit slippage and provides accurate drilling. In drill mode, the DW006 offers 0 to 450 low / 0 to 2,000 high rpm; in hammer mode, 0 to 7,650 / 0 to 34,000 bpm. Designed with user comfort in mind, the DW006 features a 360-degree side handle for increased comfort and control. The versatile DW006 accepts a 2-9/16-inch self-feeding bit for plumbing rough-in applications, 7/8-inch or 1-inch auger bit for electrical rough-in applications, and 1/4- to 3/16-inch drill bits for electrical, cable, or phone installation applications. Kit includes drill, two fan-cooled XR+ batteries, fan-cooled charger, and case.

This is not your "everyday" drill. It is heavy and doesn't have a clutch. But, when you need the kind of power that exceeds most corded drills, this is it. Hammerdrills through concrete like butter. The carbide-jawed chuck is a dream. My old 1/2" drill spun large bits all the time. Luckily, DeWalt is starting to use this chuck on its 18V and 14.4V hammerdrills, too. This newer version has two batteries which is good because the batteries don't last any longer than your average NiCd.

I have the entire 24V kit, and I wouldn't trade it for anything. I like the AC/DC converter feature, so that when the uncommon dead battery situation happens, you're not left without power. DeWalt: How about a 24V jig saw, plate jointer, miter saw and handheld planer? I'll buy them whenever they come out.

The only downfall is this drill is a bit heavy for everyday use. I have a 12V DeWalt for lighter needs, but I wouldn't trade this drill for anything.
