Editorial Reviews

Product Description
One of the Two Giants (The Other Being Pablo Milanes) of a Highly Political Folk Music Known as 'nuevo Trova'. The Movement's Influences Include the South American 'nueva Canción' ('new Song') Movement and the Poetry of Artists Like Bob Dylan and the Beatles. Rodríguez' Thin but Expressive Tenor Sings with Poetic, Often Obscure Lyrics and Beautiful, Atypical Melodies. Rodriguez Originally Used Simple Acoustic Instrumental Arrangements as Backup, but Expanded the Variety of Players on his Recording During the 80's. Consequentially, the More Sophisticated Arrangements Borrowed from Classical Music, Reggae, Pop and Traditional Cuban Rhythms. Recently, He Has Revisited the Minimal Guitar-based Acoustic Arrangements of the Early Years and Enlisted the Help of La Orquesta Sinfonica Nacional De Cuba to Record this Album. 'expedicion (Expedition)' is a Symbol of Rodriguez' Musical Journey, this Chapter Three Years in the Making, all Are New Songs Save for Three Re-recordings of Older Classics.

5.0 out of 5 stars GRACIAS SILVIO, December 10, 2002
By Sergio Bernales (Lima, Perú) - See all my reviews
Gracias Silvio.

5.0 out of 5 stars A complete work of art, May 24, 2002
Silvio Rodriguez proves once more to be one, if not the most innovative artist of the continent. In "Expedicion" he reaches back to some older, unreleased songs and gives them a royal treatment. The same goes for the new, elavorate offerings.

This CD is beautifully orchestrated. The strings are abundant, the lyrics are always deeply thoughtful. (But then again, every Silvio album is).

I highly recommend it.

5.0 out of 5 stars 1000 Estrellas, July 4, 2002

Tu Aprendiz.
