The Cambridge SoundWorks' Model Twelve is an amplified subwoofer/satellite speaker system with a difference-the BassCaseTM subwoofer enclosure, which also includes a handy carrying case for the complete system, and has space for a portable music source. The Model Twelve is especially useful for computer-based multimedia presentations.

The Model Twelve's two-way satellites provide integral speaker cable management for easy packing and unpacking. The sturdy BassCase and proprietary bass driver combine for a deep, powerful low-end unparalleled by other portable speaker systems. The Model Twelve offers carefully fine-tuned octave-to-octave balance for smooth, uncolored upper, mid-range and high-end while also providing wide dispersion. The compact amplifier unit has three selectable inputs as well as bass, treble and balance controls, a headphone jack and record outputs. The Model Twelve operates on 110V AC or 12V DC for home or mobile use (12-volt adapter is included.) For those who want to travel overseas with the MD12 there is a universal 100V to 240V AC adaptor available.

I travel 1000s of miles each year, and would not go anywhere without this system. It is a bit heavy- but that's because its a true industrial strength on the road system. When I fly, it checks easily, and can get bounced around. The hard case shows some wear, but the sound is still perfect. Plugs into portable CD or MP3 jukebox. I've also used it for work events to play music for a room of 300 people. I have a few friends who are in the music and recording business, and they travel with this system. It's also the preferred road system for the concert road crews - and believe me, they know what stands up.

I finally discovered this after reading about a semi permanent installation in "Cruising World".

I bought one for the boat and I have since attached another to my computer which I drive from iPod or iTunes respectively. The computer one I also use to take for presentations etc...

The sound is absolutely first class and way above this price level.

I can't believe that these have been around 14+ years and it took this long for a frequent traveler to discover them.

I can recommend absolutely without reservation.

I purchased this Portable speaker system after my last hotel stay. I have a portable MP3 jukebox (Creative Nomad) and brought along my old cheap computer speakers. Now my wife and I are music lovers and I tend to have Champaign ears. I just couldn't take that crappy, shallow, tinny no base sound anymore!! Now I have been eyeing The Model 12's for a couple of years (Now called the Mick Fleetwood signature edition) now if Mick is endorsing them you know they have to be great!! And let me tell you they are Amazing sounding! Great base and just a full deep sound, I am blown away with the sound this portable set up throws out there. Now let me just say it is a bit hefty in weight. This is not a cheaply made set up!! The case is heavy duty so it can take a beating and the satellites are a bit heavy (typical great quality construction from Cambridge soundworks) The amp is nice with separate bass, treble and balance controls and 4 selectable options for sound input (CD Aux1, Aux2 and tape)This system can be used with any rca type connection. I highly recommend this portable system if you want great sound on the road (or at home for that matter)
