Product Description
The Cambridge SoundWorks Ensemble II is among the most popular, and most highly acclaimed, speaker systems of all time. Designed by Cambridge SoundWorks co-founder, Emmy Award winner and Audio Hall of Fame member Henry Kloss, it delivers an unprecedented combination of high performance and high value without filling your living room with huge boxes. The New Ensemble II is an improved version of the classic speaker. However, much remains the same. The overall tonal balance, dispersion and frequency range of the new model is identical. The New Ensemble II satellites feature a new tweeter, redesigned crossover and offer increased flexibility in mounting options.
The new, more robust construction of the systems results in increased ability to be used safely with today's modern high-current amplifiers. The satellites are 2-way speakers with built-in crossovers. Each incorporates a long-throw mid-bass/mid-range speaker and a 1 3/4-inch direct radiator tweeter. Most sub/sat systems use two identical speaker drivers in each satellite. Using separate drivers for the mid and high frequencies sounds better because each speaker can specialize in producing one part of the signal. And the midrange speaker responds low enough to eliminate gaps between the satellites and the subwoofer.
New Ensemble II has one subwoofer cabinet that encloses two 6 1/2-inch woofers in a single enclosure that uses a bandpass filter -- a two-part filter that cuts highs and lows to leave a band in the middle. New Ensemble II sounds great, with bass extension comparable to the New Ensemble.
Each satellite and subwoofer contains all the response-tailoring circuitry required (including deep bass filtering). So you can choose from a variety of ways to wire the units. And you won't be forced to wire first to the subwoofer and then out to the satellites, which all use gold-plated five-way connecting posts. White, also available in Charcoal.
