4.0 out of 5 stars E FEEZY, July 9, 2002
By A Customer
This was a great effort by E 40..Once again 40 shows why he is one of the top rappers out there...I would have to say he is the most influential artist today...My personal favorites are Fallin Rain a track where 40 goes back in time to reflect on life before rap and his independent start in the rap game...Roll On is very catchy featuring Afro Man and B Legit...Why they dont f**k with us opens the albulm with a tight ... beat...The Slap...Way above average song...MY Cup featuring Suga T is the knock (slap)...Til the DAwn.. producer Bosko does it again...Lifestyles...40 once again is a few notches above the competition....Great overall effort

4.0 out of 5 stars The Rap Game Without E-40 is like Old Folks Without Bingo!, October 20, 2002
E-40 screams innovation, creativity, and originality. With many rappers in the game borrowing slang and linguistics he made up from scratch, his influence on the game is immense. While hard to get into for beginning rap fans; E-40 is a legend to others already heavy in the game. His unorthodox style, sound, and flow admittedly takes a while to get into and thus is only mainly suited for advanced rap fans. That's not to say that you won't be able to instantly like a song like his classics `Captain save A hoe" and Sprinkle Me, its just that he's harder to get into than most rappers.

With that said E-40's album is banging. Songs such as All Gravity, The Slap, Automatic, Mustard & Mayonaisse, Whomp Whomp, My Cup, Til The Dawn, Lifestyles, and Fallin Rain are all great songs smothered in that classic bay area sound. The best song on the album though is Rep Yo City feat. Petey Pablo, Eightball, Bun B, and Lil John & The Eastside Boyz. It has the most bumpable beat on the album and is crunk to the fullest. Peeps down heya in the ATL is loving that song and rightfully so; it's a classic.

E-40's album is definitely worth having because it is one of the best releases so far this year. Banging beats, potent lyrics and creativity make for an album that you must hear. Get That!

4.0 out of 5 stars Suprisingly Nice.., August 10, 2002
By Dan McLaren (Atop the rap pinnacle) - See all my reviews
I really liked the changes that 40 made in this album. He's still the same artist, but he's definitely trying to crossover, trying to reach a bigger fanbase and get at least some of the rec he deserves.
Songs like "Automatic", feat. Fabolous are a perfect example. The beat is on point, the two artists definitely sound good on track together (unlike some of 40's other collabs)..
The thing that I really enjoy about 40s albums is that he keeps it real, with songs like "plastic cup". I know that most all of us have, at one point or another, by choice or desperation have decided to parkin lot pimp it with a plastic cup and some liquor.. 40 definitely keeps his ears to the streets.. and all these other so called "stars" keep their ears to 40's lyrics and slanguage.
The one complaint I have about this album, as with the other 40 album i have (charlie hustle), is that while most of the songs are hot, the ones that aren't nice are really bad. basically i break it down to 75% of the songs are hot, 25% are wack, with no in between. I definitely recommend this album to anyone who is an E-40 fan, and anyone who is curious to hear him spit..

NEW BUYER BE WARNED: E-40s lyrics and style are not "pop" and are by most standards, fairly unconventional. He is definitely an acquired taste, but his genious and knowledge of the game are unparalleled.
