Pet loving girls, ages four to six, will thoroughly enjoy this child- friendly game if their parents can stomach the too-sweet narration and overly pink theme. Children help Kelly and her three friends get ready for a Pet Parade by choosing and decorating floats and outfits. Children must also get the pets ready by washing, grooming, feeding and playing games with the animals. When floats, outfits and pets are set, children can have their parade, adding fireworks and applause. The program is fairly superficial in content, limited to decorating each item, grooming pets and playing simple, arcade-like games. Although deeper animal info is missing, the program has numerous strengths. The experience is unusually high in child control. Children determine the order and pace of events-- they can groom each pet or play the arcade games as many or as few times as they wish. Kids can watch their parade before they've gotten all of the friends ready, and can print from every screen. At the opening screen, Kelly even asks the child to print out a friendship bracelet like her own, giving children a "warm fuzzy" right from the start. Responsivity is excellent-- instructions are there, but are easily interrupted, and response to clicks is immediate. A sign-in lets kids start where they left off. Testers older than age six won't find much in terms of challenge, but four- to six-year-old children will enjoy the experience.
