Editorial Reviews

Amazon.com
Now that the charts are safe for "American Pie"-obsessed mall punks, Guttermouth have it made. The Orange County band's eighth album is filled with nitrous-huffing vocals, discount rock riffs, and the sort of lyrics that even Blink-182 would find too obnoxious to tackle. Or not. "I'd take you out to dinner but I can't find my pants," singer Mark Adkins croons on "Pee in the Shower." The group mixes up the usual acerbic punk bluster with clownish stabs at the B-52's spastic synth pop ("My Town"), They Might Be Giants-style country rave-ups ("Gusto"), and, yes, even drunken pirate shanties ("Looking Out for No. 1"). Wild stuff. --Aidin Vaziri

Product Description
2002 album from quintessential LA punker band Guttermouth. 14 tracks of raging, melodic and powerful punk action to go off on.

1.0 out of 5 stars ahhhh yea, March 23, 2005
I was amazed when I saw all the great reviews of this album. I thought did I buy the same cd there mentioning on the web site and the answer is unfortunatly yes. I have been a Guttermouth fan for a long time now. I go to there shows allmost everytime they come and have met the band several times. Some of there older cds are punk rock classics like musical monkey and full length. Anyone who has been a fan of there music for awhile has noticed that there music has evolved into more of a pop sound from cd to cd. It has gotten so bad they might as well be on the same page as blink-182. They lost there edge. One of there claim to fame is there overtly offensive music. The most offenive song on it is where he talks about peeing in the shower. I still have a lot of respect for the band though. I went to there tour for this cd because they put on an awesome live show. I was very releaved to hear Mark himself tell the audience that he knows the cd blows and he wont subject us to it. Eat your face returned more to there classic roots but still is not as good as there early albums. If you get a chance go to one of there shows. They rock.

1.0 out of 5 stars WHAT?!?!?!?!, December 28, 2002
By A Customer
This isn't the Guttermouth I know, I waited a long time to get this cd, it's finally released and I get this. If you hvae never heard Guttermouth you'd be much better with "Musical Monkey" or any of their older albums. I guess this album isn't THAT BAD as to get 1 star, but it just shows my huge disappointment

2.0 out of 5 stars This is REALLY disapointing, February 21, 2003
By Tommy (Australia) - See all my reviews
I have to say guttermouth have realesed some KICK [..] albums in their career but this is absolute [..]. I dont know what happened to them. The only reason that saves this from a one star is track 2 and track 9. THey are the only songs that are half good on this cd, but there rest is pure lifeless pop [..].

5.0 out of 5 stars Should be an example under "Under appreciated."
"Gusto," is definitely an odd ball, but it doesn't stop it from being bad. There are some pretty poppy moments, but ironically it is the best song writing they've done. Read more

1.0 out of 5 stars WOW! This sucks!
Ok, Guttermouth made a shirt awhile back, that says: "Punk Rock: A loud, fast, deliberately offensive style of rock music". I've always agreed with that statement. Read more
