Editorial Reviews

Product Description
Seattle based band releases their 2002 debut album. The album features ten artfully dynamic and powerfully melodic songs that were produced and engineered by legendary independent studio whiz and performer Aaron Sprinkle (Damien Jurado, MxPx, Pedro The Lion).

5.0 out of 5 stars The Best Band I've Heard In A While, April 14, 2003
This album and this band are truly amazing! I can't recomend Gatsby's highly enough. I've seen them live 3 times now and I keep coming back for more. This is the best "punk" has to offer, high proficiency musicianship, catchy songs, and pure passion. You MUST hear these guys! If you're into Coheed and Cambria or Thirce you'll love them, and if you're into New Found Glory or Sum 41, they'll convert you!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Buy this C.D. now!, January 18, 2004
By "punkassmofo" (New Jersey) - See all my reviews
Gatsby's American Dream is easily one of the best punk bands to come along since The Clash. Throw Coheed and Cambria, The Rx Bandits, and The Mars Volta into a blender, liquify it, and you've got Gatsby's American Dream. I bought this C.D. thinking I'd get a good band but, instead, I got a f**king amzaing band. Buy this C.D. Now. This insatant. Go.

1.0 out of 5 stars Yikes!!!!!!!!, August 19, 2008
I am glad that I was able to listen to this album before deciding to purchase it. This is NOT amazing. This is trash, plain and simple. Why We Fight is genuine trash, for the most part. When they show a display of inspiration or anything that doesn't resemble dull ideas, it's not even worthy enough to save the song, and it's hardly memorable

This album is worse than Fallout Boy's From Under The Cork Tree, it speaks volume right there. As much as I hate to admit, Taking Back Sunday Where You Want to Be sounds better than this. At least that one has some half textured guitar and some drums that actually sound like their being played with a bit of passion halfway (he plays his heart out maybe, which hurts even more than they suck badly). This is one of the lamest albums I have heard. It feels more watered down than the Ramones, and this is more technical than the Ramones.

The music on this is pretty much god awful. The sound of this piece of _______ is hard to describe, but I'll give it a go anyway. The guitar riffs are vanilla, and there is no aggression. It's like taking the worst of the emo and pop punk genre and mixing it all into one VERY BAD stew of music. The metronome beats are nonexistant, with no real contribution to the music. The guitar are boring, and the texture is not there. They don't sign, they don't try to be another voice, they are just there to provide a tuneless "melodie". You will fall asleep, it's just that bad.

This album is not worth your time. It's generic, cookie cutter rock music with no power at all. Spend your money elsewhere.
