4.0 out of 5 stars not ready to give this 5 stars just yet, but...., April 4, 2004
Okay, I'm an old fart, so I don't know all the current bands that one would compare Giddy Motors too. I will instead compare them to great bands from my youth.

And in my opinion, Giddy Motors will definitely please fans of the Birthday Party, Scratch Acid, Jesus Lizard, the Pixies, Big Black and others of that ilk.

They have that same sensual muscularity, the bone crushing heaviness underneath, the yowling cathartic vocals on top, and layers of scabrous, noisy guitars doing all sorts of fun things all over the place.

In rock terminology, Giddy Motors kick some arse. These dudes are on a musical rampage, pillaging and swilling beer as they go. But it's not just all full-bore intensity. Like the afore-mentioned bands, what sets Giddy Motors apart is their total command of DYNAMICS. And these guys are musicians with a capital M. I know they and their fans might vomit at the comparison, but Giddy Motors at times remind me of "Red"-era King Crimson. There is true musical intricacy and instrumental finesse underlying the pummeling aggressiveness of their music. Like Crimson, Giddy Motors exhibit an appreciation of the rythmic complexity and improvisatory freedom of jazz. Check out "Cranium Crux" and/or "Hit Cap" to see what I mean.

So, yeah, I am really enjoying this album a lot. And if you like the bands I mentioned above, do yourself a favor and grab this one.

5.0 out of 5 stars Eminem? WTF!!??, December 8, 2003
By daniel (Afrika! Not really though.) - See all my reviews
Hey yo, I saw these guys Giddy Motors open for Eminem in Detroit last summer. They came onstage and blew the white baseball caps and fake jewelry off all the bros and mooks in attendance. This dude I went to the show with, I think his name was Kel, dropped his near-beer and ran for the exit, crying like a little girl. He couldn't handle anything this explosive and damaged and devastating. Last I heard, Kel was washing snot and tears out of his All American Rejects t-shirt while listening to "Cleaning Out My Closet" and thinking about how, like, poignant the lyrics are man!
I recommend this record to anyone who doesn't listen to All American Rejects.
