Product Description

Amazon.com Product Description

The SRF-56 is lightweight, simple-to-use FM stereo receiver. Weighing only 1 3/4 ounces (51 grams), this compact player is a perfect companion for the track, bike trail or work area. With the antenna headphone, you are sure to receive a strong signal. The local/distant switch will help you fine tune the reception. Both the volume and tuning buttons are rotary dials, providing a nice sight-free way to make major changes to the Walkman.

Sony has included their MDR (micro dynamic receiver) headphones with the SRF-56. These headphones are open air type; the headphones will allow ambient noise to filter into the ear canal, providing a rich sound and keeping you safely aware of events, people and automobiles around you. The headphones provide ample dynamic range and sound. The Walkman requires only one AA battery, keeping the receiver lightweight and inexpensive to operate. When using a Sony alkaline battery, you can expect 100 hours of use. There is also a belt clip included, so you can carry the Walkman on your belt. The color is a utilitarian gray.

What's in the Box
Sony SRF-56 Walkman FM stereo, Sony MDR open air headphones, belt clip, user's manual and a ninety day warranty.

5.0 out of 5 stars It's about as perfect as a simple little radio can get., June 21, 2004

(REAL NAME)
This radio is pretty much exactly what I expected in purchasing a small radio. It has good reception, handles minor abuse well, and all the switches and dials are in their right places. What more can I ask for?

Just an operational tip: This radio is very light weight and has a sturdy clip on the back side. In order to keep it and the headphone wires out of my way I clip it on my shirt behind my neck and put the excess headphone wiring down the back of my shirt. It stays neatly in place, doesn't uncomfortably pull the shirt back, and doesn't get caught on anything (hands, workout equipment, random counters and tables) as it would on my waist band.

Enjoy!

4.0 out of 5 stars not bad for the price..., July 2, 2005
good for what i use it for, npr. tuner is clear and smooth to use. it could be smaller, but for the price i guess its fine. its about the size of a large pager. the headphones are junk as expected, but the sound is fine with other headphones. in the price range the competition is cheap badly designed no name junk.

3.0 out of 5 stars Too Big, November 20, 2004
It is much bigger than I expected. It is my fault not to look at its dimensions before purchasing. I did know its weight, which is reasonable. Considering that some MP3 players with FM tuner are at most half its size, it is kind of an disappointment. But of course at this price...
