5.0 out of 5 stars Ryuichi Sakamoto's Goldmine, November 14, 2002
By R. Max Totten (San Francisco, Ca United States) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This compilation is sheer beauty to one's ears, from early compositions 1977 - 2002 many melodies we have grown to admire Mr. Sakamoto for, runs the gamut here. Such a universe of instrumentals that it is so hard to place a correct interpretation in a review, however every cut lays such beautiful ground work for his genius to florish. This in my opinion is what we've be waiting for since the breakup of YMO. There is even a alternative track that would become the center melody for a Yukihiro Takahashi song, Such Beauty!

The other comps in these new releases are well conceived but anyone who has collected his music will already have most, if not all, with the exception to the "soundtrack" comp which has a few new film score cuts added.

I believe this compilation is not just for "die" hard Sakamoto admires, but for anyone wanting a true voyage in music composition.

3.0 out of 5 stars Only for die-hard fans, October 30, 2002
By Pat Willener (Tokyo, Japan) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This album contains a collection of some 50 commercial short works (TV commercials, etc). Nothing exiting here; this is really only for hardcore Sakamoto fans!
