The IBM TotalStorage FAStT EXP700 Storage Expansion unit is a highly available, fully redundant disk drive enclosure that when attached to the FAStT700, FAStT500, and FAStT200 Storage Servers enables high-performance storage solutions for mid-range and enterprise business-critical applications. The EXP700 is a 3U rack-mountable enclosure that supports up to 14 hot-swappable 2 Gbps Fibre Channel (FC) slim-high disk drive modules. There are four 2 Gbps FC disk drive modules available (an 18.2 GB and a 36.4 GB, both operating at 15, 000 rpm, and a 36.4 GB and 73.4 GB operating at 10, 000 rpm), providing a wide selection of sizes and speeds for various applications needs. The various drive modules can be installed in any position within the EXP700, and intermixed within the enclosure in any combination.
