Editorial Reviews

Magnet

"Capital City whips up familiarity and warmth faster than most bands can disperse drink tickets."

Product Description

Delivering unbelievably catchy songs with an intimate sensibility, Capital City's debut album sings an irresistible melody against a muted guitar while coming down off an all-night bender. Recorded at the legendary Fort Apache (Dinosaur Jr, Come, Yo La Tengo, Uncle Tupelo, Radiohead) by Brian Brown (Juliana Hatfield, Bill Janovitz, Pilot to Gunner, Tanya Donnelly), these 11 songs take you on a full tour of the city's various neighborhoods - country-tinged spacewalks, pure pop pleasantries and forlorn looking out the window. Use of earnest vocals, stereo jangle guitars, melodic bass lines, natural echo chambers, violin, viola and electric piano provide the aural equivalent of a home-cooked meal after a week straight of greasy airplane food.

5.0 out of 5 stars Simply Awesome, December 26, 2002
By A Customer
Am I Invisible is a wonderfully fun and balanced album, with elements of rock, pop, folk and even informatica woven together to make for a unique, yet familiar-sounding record. What I like most about this album is its simplicity and honesty. The songs draw you in with their crisp riffs, and keep you interested with interesting lyrics you can sing along to. I find it hard to pick a favorite song on the record -- a lot of it depends on my mood. The title track, Am I Invisible, is a contender -- a throwback to early-70s textures with 00's-style sentimentality. What I Became is an upbeat rock/pop track that's perfect for your Saturday-night party. Council Emissary is probably the most marketable song on the album, with catchy guitar and nice harmonies. The Weak are Getting Strong is a song i just can't get enough of. Reminicient of music from the Beatles and solo artists like Mark Knopfler (formerly of Dire Straits) and Aimee Mann (the one-time lead-singer of 'Til Tuesday), Am I invisible is a real crowd-pleaser that you can listen to over and over and over again.
