Buy this compilation and get the funk out of Dodge.Straight outta Tejas and right to the head. The kind of grooves that send a chill up and down your spine while simultaneously makin' you break out into a cold sweat.Hotter than chile and sweeter than sugar.Enjoy these rare cuts of longhorn funk.

5.0 out of 5 stars Must own this, September 9, 2007
this is the best funk compilation out there. you may also like bay area funk and the funky 16 corners. check out http://www.stonesthrow.com/nowagain for other old great funk/soul. some of the recording quality on these are not as good as you may be used to, but on some tracks the grittiness of it actually adds to the sound.

4.0 out of 5 stars Rare Funk Revisited, April 18, 2005
By Brother "The 'G' Meister" (San Antonio, Texas USA) - See all my reviews
To say that no funk ever came out of Texas would be a lie. This album has what it takes to fill your groove with the funk that moves you. I was surprised when I sat down to listen to this collection that I called and recommend this to all my friends who want something different. In a day when most of he music we hear is replecated electronicaly it was refreshing to hear these bands give it their best shot. These were the days when a hit 45 could make you an overnight sensation and it sounds like each group were trying to accomplish just that. Is it worth the money, I think so. (I liked the groups from the Houston area!)
