Dolce Musica: A Contemplative Journey (Celtic, Renaissance & Medieval Melodies) is a production of the San Francisco Bay Area's Healing Muses, Eileen Hadidian and Natalie Cox. Their music is designed to create a peaceful sound environment for hospitals, clinics, hospices, convalescent homes, retreat centers and homebound individuals. Using a combination of Medieval, Renaissance and Celtic music, American folk tunes and spirituals, their music for healing promotes relaxation and reduces anxiety during stressful hospital stays and procedures. Patients and staff experience the power of music to calm and soothe in a noisy, high-anxiety environment. Healing Muses also offers lectures and workshops on the healing effects of music. Eileen Hadidian (recorder, baroque flute) is the founder of Healing Muses, and has appeared in concert and taught throughout the West Coast. Her involvement with music for healing grew out of her own experience with breast cancer. She used music for her own healing, and began to play for other cancer patients. She has been exploring ways in which music can be used to encourage relaxation, diffuse pain, and reduce anxiety. Natalie Cox (Renaissance & Celtic harp) is the principal harpist with the Oakland East Bay Symphony. She performs throughout the Bay Area as a chamber musician and can be heard on many TV and film music scores. She began playing the pedal and Celtic harps at the same time. Her earliest performance experience was for people in informal settings, at fairs and in hospitals. She continues to do this work, believing fully that there are more places for live music than on stage. The feedback she continually gets is that the beauty and sound of the harp are very soothing and relax body and mind.
